Short introduction:

What's up guys, I'm ggteixeira, a relatively new blogger to Steem and long lasting gamer. As of recently I've been finding myself either playing League of Legends, some sort of multiplayer survival game, or reading/writing posts on one of my favorite sites, Steemit.

Now onto the topic at hand, what is Unturned?

Unturned is a free-to-play multiplayer zombie survival game on Steam, where you're thrown into a fun looking though harsh environment infested with dangerous zombies, abandoned towns, and worst of all unpredictable players. In Unturned there's a massive variety of things to do all stapled together and built around the game's main goal, surviving. The graphics might be simple, but the addictive gameplay, great crafting and massive variety of things to do always seems to be pulling me back into play, and play a fun fair non-pay-to-win game.

One quick look at the game and it'll instantly hit you, 'this game's graphics aren't it's strong point.' They're very simple and basic, comparable to games like Minecraft or Roblox. This can be a turn-off to some players but to others a strongpoint. Because of this game's rather basic graphics quality, it requires less from a PC to run therefore adding the possibility of appealing to a larger variety of players. The game's art-style too can also be appealing to some and easy on the eyes, which to me is always a definitive plus.

Gameplay

The gameplay for this game is phenomenal, especially when you keep in mind it's a pretty basic looking free-to-play game. The game at it's core is a survival game, where you traverse around a map/server of your choosing trying to at first survive the onslaught of zombies, players, and elements then if successful afterwards thrive and establish yourself as the alpha on whatever server you on. There's so much to do in Unturned especially revolving around it's gameplay, so I'll be breaking it into three smaller categories to better explain:

  • Surviving - Like stated before, the basis of Unturned is surviving. Sure, there are the variety of zombies and players that you got to keep an eye out for, but there's also hunger, hydration, and health that you got to keep up if you don't want to die and turn into a zombie yourself. You got to constantly be on your toes when playing Unturned lest they get chewed off by a zombie or shot off by a bandit.

  • Crafting and RPG - The crafting in this game is crazy in-depth. There's at least a hundred items in this game, probably way more, and there's just so much you can do and craft. Want to build a house? Go scavenge a lumberjack axe, chop down a tree, gather the logs and sticks, get a saw then saw the logs and sticks, craft the different building parts, put them together to form your own unique base, scavenge for metal and put together defenses for the base and so on. That's just one example of the crafting, there is so much more that I can't even explain it all, or else I'd be here rambling on forever. Let me just leave it at this, you can disassemble, scrap, and/or craft with just about everything in this game, it's insane. Then there's the RPG-like leveling system of the game. You get experience for surviving and with the experience you get you can upgrade certain stats to make your character stronger, faster, smarter, better marksman, faster swimmer, better crafter, and so on, increasing your chances of surviving! But watch out, if you die you'll on a hardcore server lose all your experience and on a regular server half.

  • Combat and PvP - The combat in this game is very addictive and fun. The melee-weapons are pretty cool to use, especially against zombies or an unsuspecting player, and the guns are very smooth. There's even a deep customization system where you can put together your own type of gun with your own preferred attachments, it's pretty neat if you ask me, along with the cosmetic skins you can earn through playing the game (Or buy). Another plus is the PvP community built around Unturned which is pretty big and crazy at times. Some of the firefights, base raids and battles that go on and can happen in this game are crazy, I strongly suggest anyone that picks up this game give it a go.

In conclusion,

There's so much more to Unturned that I can't put it all in one post. I suggest to everyone that read this that they go try it out, free on Steam. As always, I'd like to thank every for reading this, feel free to comment below, and the best of luck surviving and keeping yourself unturned!
