Hello there Steemians, it's @gamingchimp, and today I'm going to talk about simple but very useful Genji tips to improve your gameplay. Genji is a very high skill-cap hero in my opinion, and it might be hard to play him until you get used to his playstyle. However, if played well, Genji can single-handedly destroy a whole team, and carry his team towards victory.

Tip #1: When to pick Genji

This tip isn't about his playstyle, but about when you should actually pick Genji. If you are really comfortable with playing him you can pick him against 1-2 counters, but there are some matchups when you shouldn't play Genji at all. For example, if you are attacking, and the enemy has like 3 counterpicks for you, you should probably try playing something else since these heroes can totally disable your flanks, and eliminate you despite your mobility.
Genji's worst match-ups are Symmetra, Torbjörn, Winston, but Pharah, Zarya, and Mei can also be a little problem if they play their heroes well.

Tip #2: ALWAYS use your Alt-Fire before abilities

Whenever you want to engage at someone with dash, you should use your alt-fire before it. If you are deflecting in a battle, use your alt-fire. If you plan to use ult - use your alt-fire. Most of the time it doesn't slow you down, but it adds little damage output which might be enough to secure some kills and let you snowball with your dash-resets.

Tip #3: Use your melee frequently

Try to pay attention to the enemies health pool, and secure kills with melee. This basically works for every hero, since the fix 30 damage which you don't even have to aim can be really useful. But it works on Genji exponentially, because you benefit a lot more from eliminations. Also, your melee can be used after alt-fire, which gives you a little burst combo for low health targets.

Tip #4: Cooperate with your teammates, and combo your ultimates.

Genji has a great area of effect damage, so combining a Zarya ultimate with Genji ultimate can be devastating. You just slash-dash-slash-dash and wipe the whole team if done properly. Ana and Genji's nano-blade combo can be insane too since you can one-shot 250 hp targets with your slash-dash combo while nano boosted. This way you'll get a lot more out of your ultimate.

Tip #5: Always watch out for counter ultimates/abilities

There are some abilities which can pretty much destroy your dragonblade, so you should keep an eye out for them. These abilities are Ana's Biotic Grenade, Roadhog's hook and Zenyatta's Transcendence, and Lucio ultimate. If you hear a Soldier-76 using Visor, just hide, wait a few seconds and engage after it. If there are no counter abilities up, it's your time to shine and obliterate the whole team.

Just by paying attention to these, it gives you a great advantage over other players who don't do so. It will probably make your gameplay more fun, and you'll see a lot more shiny PotG-s too! :D These tips are pretty basic, later on I'll write an article about more advanced ones too. I hope you learnt a lot from this, feel free to share your thoughts in comments, and re-steem if you liked it. Thanks for reading! :)

Cheers,
