Johnny Depp to Produce The Secret World TV Series. Will It Suck Too?

There are a bunch of movies and TV series based from games that actually has the stories to tell such as Tomb Raider and The Witcher, to games with little to no stories like Rampage or Minecraft that are in the making at the moment, and the MMORPG The Secret World is among them. Soon The Secret World's tale will unfold itself in the form of TV series. What caught my attention and interest to this one the most is because the TV series will be produced by one of my favorite actor, the one who play as the iconic witty pirate Jack Sparrow, Johnny Depp.
Funcom, the Norwegian game dev behind the MMORPG The Secret World published the announcement a few hours ago on Secret World Legends' official site stated that their game will be coming to the small screen that will be produced by the studio behind the movies Hugo and The Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp's Infinitum Nihil, that have partnered with G4C Innovation’s Gudrun Giddings.
Written by James V. Hart and Jake Hart, the TV show will be based on The Secret Legend and the recently released rebooted version of Secret World, Secret World Legends, which will focus on a team of undercover agents and the war between the game's secret societies; the Illuminati, the Dragon, and the Templar.
As for the plotline, it will center on the agents battling against the supernatural accross the world, with the multiple dimensions, ancient myths realms, legends, as well as today's conspiracy theories incorporated into one fictional universe with full of fantastic storylines as stated by the creators themselves, the TV show producer, Gudrun Giddings and the CEO of Funcom, Rui Casais:
“It is one of the most character-driven and well-developed games I know of, hence it naturally lends itself to fantastical storylines with intriguing characters, a thrilling, and binge-worthy international TV show.”

Unfortunately there is still no further information on when and where will it be aired, and when we can be amazed by it.. Or disappointed, as usual. But! Apparently this project has been developed since 2012 which is when The Secret World first released, so it seems like the 3 of these studios been keeping it a secret from us! ..Okay I'll leave.
So what I'm saying is it won't be long until next release announcement. And with Johnny Depp on board I truly hope the show will be as epic as this scene

Well If Johny Deps going to be an open part of it, I imagine it'll be good. I don't know much about the other people.
I hope so, I'd hate it to see my favorite actor criticized negatively if the show is bad.

I'm a bit skeptical. Johnny Depp is a great actor, but not a successful producer.
I'm thinking of the same as you, I don't really know how good how good Johnny Depp as a producer. And now he is working on something.. More difficult(?) because movies based on game are generally total let down.
