3 Games Inspired by Your Favourite (Old) Games on Kickstarter

"Can I ask... a question? What makes you happy? I wonder... what makes you happy... does it make... others happy, too?"

-Child on the Moon (The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask)

You know that time when you finished a game, a great game, and you want to have that fun experience again but starting over that same game just won't satisfy you the same way so you went to Google and look for "Games like [insert game name]" to find an alternative?

Apparently, that happened to me too, but instead of finding the game that I wanted in the first place, I found what you might like instead. If you are interested just click on the titles to go to their official websites, or the images to the Kickstarter pages.

Praey for the Gods

Developer: No Matter Studios
Release Date: December 2017
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, MacOS
Genre: Action, Adventure, Survival

So tell me, do you miss Shadow of Colossus but want something new instead of replaying that old gem? Look no further, for this game hear your praey-er. Praey for the Gods combines the gameplay of Shadow of Colossus, Deus Ex, DayZ, and Bloodbourne. But at a glance it looks like Shadow of Colossus the most, climbing on to the gigantic monsters.

While we have an RPG with that feature already that you can find in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, this upcoming game has much more to offer aside of that monster-climbing combat feature. The second strongest aspect of this game is the survival gameplay. And ooh, it have something I really love; equipments degradation, the weapons can break in battle.

In the middle of heavily snowy dying world where you'll take on a freezing journey to find out why the winter never end, you'll have to survive not only the colossal dangers but also the punishing dynamic weather. You have to deal with hunger, tire, and the cold by salvaging items, build yourself up from nothing, and more.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker

Developer: Owlcat Games
Release Date: August 2018
Platforms:
Microsoft Windows, Linux, MacOS
Genre: RPG

Inspired by the two classic isometric games created by Black Isle Studios; Baldur's Gate and Fallout, a new studio called Owlcat Games with a bunch of experiences in gaming industry make you something to love again if you love those two classics.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker has a wide range of character customization, from the classes to choose from, the specialized archetypes, skills and abilities, to the freedom of creating either heroes or villains that fit the player's play style and personalities.

This game is based on Paizo's Pathfinder Adventure Path and if you've played that before, you will be happy to see your favourite characters in this game. In Pathfinder: Kingmaker, you will embark on your adventure to build your own kingdom in the Stolen Land, a northern land in a world of Galorion rich with histories, mysteries, and conflicts... especially conflicts, so much conflicts that it also exist within your inner circle.

You'll have a number of companions to travel along with you. However, not all of them are "with you to whatever end" as they have their own goals that may differ from yours and might stab you from the back.

For an isometric game, this looks like going to be so huge as you could claim a land and build your very own kingdom from the wilderness while classic dungeon crawling and open world-venturing are available altogether and while at it you will also faced with diplomacy, politics, and leading your troops to the battlefield. Mmmm.. I smell a little bit of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Pine

Developer: Twirlbound
Release Date: November 2018
Platforms: Microsoft Windows
Genre:
 Action, Adventure

If you are like me, wanting to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild but don't own Nintendo Switch but also don't want to or cannot play on Cemu version, maybe this game simply named Pine could be a good alternative.

As the dev say on its page, Pine is inspired by the adventure of Link in Zelda games that give you the world that adapts to you, to your playstyle. In Pine, mankind is not on top of the food chain and the animals are humanly intelligent. They could develop language, culture, and become smarter. So I imagine if you get eaten by tigers they might as well complain how salty your meat is and hire a better cook.

You play as a young man named Hue, raised in an isolated human tribe in the island of Albamare and will uncover the mysteries about the island, the creatures on the island, mankind, and the civilizations that once were along your adventure.

One of the biggest aspect of this game come from its world. In the world of Pine, everything will happen with or without your involvement such as a certain group extinction, small power shifts, and more. It will also change and evolve based on what you do on your journey, your decisions will alter the course of what the island of Albamare would be.

Random thought...
Steemit UI update is pretty neat, yeah? This Night Mode is getting so popular. While the look is nice already, I wonder if there will be new features like Twitter embedding.
