10 Years Ago, It Started With a Lighthouse: BioShock 10th Anniversary

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

"In the end, what separates a man from a slave? Money? Power? No. A man chooses. A slave obeys."

-Andrew Ryan (BioShock)

I'm back! It feels so good to finally out of a cave. And by cave I mean my house with shitty to no internet connection at all, and thanks to that I'm a week late to post about one of my favorite game from my favorite series of all time, BioShock 10th aniversary. So, I know it's late but I'll post it right now anyway just because I love it.

10 years (and 7 days) ago, BioShock released and leave gamers who played it in awe. Started from a plane crash that landed us on a lighthouse, and then step into the bathysphere with the iconic Andrew Ryan's speech and Welcome to Rapture soundtrack playing in the background as we submerge to the depth of the North Atlantic ocean to see the incredible underwater dystopia for the first time, to the moment where we figured out that we were just being played by Atlas and fight him on the last battle. BioShock is an unforgettable incredible experience, and is now 10 years old. Despite being a 10 years old game, BioShock is still in my favorite games list.

Following Its Anniversary

1. Collector's Edition Release

On the game's 10th anniversary, 2K released BioShock 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition. This collector's edition include BioShock: The Collection that has all the 3 BioShock games from the first to Infinite full with their downloadable contents, except BioShock 2's multiplayer mode. It also come with an awesome 11 inch tall Big Daddy and Little Sister statue, posing after the iconic original cover art.

Is that all? No. That Big Daddy is motorized and the drill can spin, and it looks like their eyes can glow too. One last thing included in the collector's edition is the Big Daddies and Little Sisters audio clips from the game. The collector's edition cost $199.99 and unfortunately, it's available for US only on GameStop and 2K Store. But they dropped the price for the game only version, so you can get BioShock: The Collection for $19.79 on Steam, and $29.99 on PlayStation and Xbox Store.

2. PAX West BioShock Celebration

On 2 September 2017, The Great Hall at Union Station, Seattle, will be transformed into BioShock 10 year anniversary party dubbed as Return to Rapture, and will be hosted with IGN. Rapture will be brought to life full with the Big Daddies and Little Sisters, Splicers, and Rapture's themed food and drinks. There's also live music from DJ Kristina Childs (DJ in Rapture? Well Rapture is free for artists, right?) and there is much more to see. The celebration is open to public, so everyone can attend without PAX ticket.

That's the short description of what you can expect from the PAX West, but! There is a chance to win some "amazing prizes" for everyone who join the BioShock Cosplay Contest. So if you are a cosplayer and interested in the contest, submit your name, phone number, age, character and the photo (optional) to [email protected] by 30 August. More info on this here

Great post man, I like this Bioshock thing!

Do you think they will make another part of this

I think there is another BioShock in development by 2K Marin, but the brain of BioShock, Ken Levine, is not involved in it. So I don't know if this will be as astounding as the previous games. But it was only an announcement from Take-Two Interactive in 2015 that there will be more BioShock, and I think there is no further detail about it since then.
