THUMPER - RHYTHM VIOLENCE FOR VR SKEPTICS
If you've tried VR in the mall or at some booth and weren't blown away, it's because you weren't allowed to try Thumper. It wouldn't be safe to demo this game in public because it might scare little children or the elderly. Why not try a vomit-inducing walkathon like Robinson: The Journey or have some condescending tutorials yap your brains out for 10 minutes like RIGS. Quick-- strap a TV to my face.
Enter Thumper. One of smoothest and visceral virtual reality experiences on the market. It's tricky to put into one category because it's not really racing and I don't want to call it a rhythm game (because then people think DDR or Rockband), but there's definitely music involved-- and it is powerful. The soundtrack was composed by Brian Gibson of Lightning Bolt and is even available on vinyl.

Already have a VR set and haven't tried this yet? It's not your fault. It can be difficult to filter quality content with so many games coming out and no time to play them all, but Thumper is a must-try. It pleases the equilibrium and titillates the senses.
