ASUS CMO Rex Lee Talks TUF FX505, FX705
ASUS recently launched their TUF gaming FX505 and FX705 laptops. These are entry level gaming laptops which feature many of ASUS's innovative features such as customisation and military-grade durability. ASUS Chief Marketing Officer and APAC General Manager, Rex Lee spoke, with Gamers Classified about the FX505 and FX705 gaming laptops.
GC: Both the TUF Gaming FX505 and FX705 laptops have passed MIL-STD-810G tests. Why is it important for TUF gaming laptops to be so resilient?
Lee: ASUS started almost 30 years ago with the goal of providing good quality products to the market. This heritage has continued to our gaming laptops. We asked ourselves, how can we demonstrate our products high level of quality to our customers? We thought perhaps the US Military grade tests which have such high standards would show how good our gaming laptops are, so that's why our TUF gaming laptops have passed MIL-STD-810G tests.
GC: These laptops can be customised in a number of ways. For example, the backlighting and sound settings. Can you please comment on the relationship between customisation, comfort and improved performance?
Lee: Performance comes first for gamers so that's the first demand we need to meet. The second consideration is establishing an emotional connection through touch and feel. That's why we have the aura sync feature which we've implemented all through ASUS's gaming products: monitors, laptops, headsets, keyboard, mouse and speakers. We want to provide a product which not only meets the customer's rational demand but also their emotional demand.
GC: These laptops feature a range of innovations such as the ASUS-exclusive HyperCool Technology. What skills or attitudes does TUF look for in its recruits in order to creative such innovative technology?
Lee: Our CEO and chairman are R&D Engineers. A top R&R Engineer can produce a top R&D Engineer. A top sales person can produce a top sales person. I think because fundamentally, our founders and managers are top R&D Engineers they can distinguish who has what it takes to keep creating these technologies. As for the team members, they want to work for a strong leader. Your team members want to feel secure when they work for you. I think this is why we're able to have top notch Engineers working for ASUS and we we're able to come up with such innovative products.
