Pokemon Go: New Raid Boss is Cresselia

Niantic continues to deploy new Pokemon to the mobile Pokemon Go game as they extend the scope of the latest generation of Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. The newest Pokemon will now be added by way of Raid Battles with the Legendary Psychic-type Pokemon, Cresselia. Cresselia was originally from the Sinnoh region as well, similar to the previous Raid Boss, Giratina.

The new raid boss will be active until December 18, 2018 and as usual will be in the tier 5 eggs at the gym where it will appear after the typical 45 minute countdown. It will not be as good of a Psychic-type as Mewtwo but will be at least the newest Pokedex entry for the collection. As with all Psychic type Pokemon, consider using dark type Pokemon as the best counter when battling them with your teams. Tyranitar continues to be the best option given its leadership in the attacking statistic category.

Expect Niantic to continue deploying new waves of Pokemon as generation four from the Sinnoh region continues its release. Unfortunately for me, Raid battles have become somewhat stale and uneventful of an experience given the focus on getting these rarer Pokemon through the system. There have been a number of other new Pokemon deployed via the Raid system but have not been attractive enough to seek them out which is why I still don’t have them. However, it probably remains a great source of interaction for the community and revenue for Niantic so don’t look for them to go away anytime soon.
