Anthem: A Destiny Killer?

As I continue to think about the games I will be preordering to play, Anthem is one of those at the top of my list for consideration. I am a big Destiny fan and since this game has been called a Destiny killer, it caught my interest. It seems to share many of the similar concepts that Destiny introduced such as a looting, shared open world game. Some of the hype also come from the developer being BioWare which has developed huge successes like Mass Effect and Dragon Age.

The game looks beautiful in the images and gameplay shared so far. It has a very similar concept as Destiny although it seems that the story will be much more personalized to the player instead of the world around it. The world itself is wrapped in mystery which provides the opportunity for plenty of storytelling. They seem to be focused on the main weakness experienced by Destiny which is the story. This may engage many Destiny players as they look for engaging content centered around the character.

I think the great thing is that they will be having a Beta for players to try. Given the limited time for so many games being released, I think the Beta will be the best way to truly gauge whether it will be worth the preorder or not. I will be looking forward to having some time with the Beta to determine the next step.
