Working In The Creation Of A RPG
Here are some screenshots of a scifi role playing game (RPG) that I am creating using RPG Maker MV. I chose this tool given all the export options it gives as well as much greater level of customization.
This is still largerly a work in progress. I am working hard to try to customize graphics and resources as much as possible.
RPG Maker often gets criticized a lot because it is relatively easy to create a game. On the other hand, I think that in this day and age there is very little point in reinventing the wheel. I think time is better spent in using existing tools and focusing in making the best possible product you can.
Well, these are the only fully finished places / screenshots that I have, as the game is still largely in development. I spend a lot of time tuning and customizing various aspects.
What do you think about the screenshots? Like? Dislike?
I agree with you that there's no point in reinventing the wheel. Although, in my opinion, if you're creating something generic, there must also be something unique, for example a really in depth story! That's just my two cents.
I would definitely like to try it out once you're finished though! Good luck :)
Well, yes, there is going to be a story. Not your typical "good hero saves the world", though. The story is more personal to the characters.
Looks good, cheers @galactic123!
I agree, I've written RPG engines from scratch and I can tell you that they weren't any better and I could have used that time to develop more interesting things.
I also agree with @cheaky, you have to work harder to stand out from the crowd if you use "generic" tilesets, etc.
Your screenshots look good. It would be interesting to hear more about the other aspects of the game. Looking forward to updates.
Have you had a look at the plugins and mods you can get for it? There is some really cool stuff there.
Oh yes, I have checked many of the plugins! I'm using plugins created by Yanfly , these are very good! :)
