Videogames for PC have always had a great influence in the gamer world, but many players of the current or past generation think that this was given importance in the last 4 years, a matter that is totally ruled out because its tendency has come from more than 40 years, several times I have talked about some PC games that belong to the era where 3D was already considerably evolved, so through this post I will start a new sequence where we will discuss those games of MS- TWO who got enough respect, fame and relevance in video games.

For Steemians who do not know what MS-DOS is in a few words in an operating system designed by the Microsoft company in 1981, it was the most popular between 1985-1993 and through this system a large catalog of games could be played. which were mostly launched on this platform before any other, at that time it was not managed with a graphical interface, we had to execute everything through commands, one of them allowed us to execute and install any game that we had in a state physical.

After a little general culture in computer science we go to the past to know one of the games that became popular massively since its launch in 1992, belonging to the genre Firt Person Shooter and one of the first to use the 3D platform with sprites for achieve an excellent graphic finish (for the time), created by the company ID Software the great Wolfenstein 3D.

Before the creation of Wolfenstein ID Software I work on two videogames to achieve that peculiar graphic aspect, they were known by the names of Hovertank 3D and Catacomb 3D (they had an addiction with the word 3D) both were the main models and the guinea pigs for the birth of Wolfenstein, that is the main reason why these games are so similar.

The game was contained in two disks of 3½ inches which included the game in two parts, at the end of the installation and running the game we could see on the home screen a kind of test that told us the performance of our PC with the game, the more green lights you saw on this screen the faster it would run the same on the PC, then we had the main menu where we could go to the options screen, change screen resolution, sound type, joystick settings, keyboard or mouse, in addition to load a game previously saved or just start a new game, here comes a very curious fact and is that depending on the difficulty we choose we will draw a picture to understand what is preparing us in the game, from the character in baby suit to with a totally angry face with red eyes.

The game method for the present can be something "simple", simply eliminate soldiers, find keys, open doors, eliminate bosses and exit the level, however, the most complicated of this game are the extensive mazes which can make us pass a great headache and more when the textures of the game were very similar, the more you advanced in the longer and more complex game was made, we should have the utmost caution saving our game because if we lost all our ammunition and weapons we lost them.

One of the things that attracted the most attention was the amount of secrets that you could find in a level, every time you finished any of them you would get a screen where you indicated the percentage of enemies eliminated and secrets to discover, this was the basis between many more things that this videogame contributed to the creation of one of the best FPS in history, DOOM, but leaving this aside Wolfenstein 3D use very efficiently the sense of search and research in this type of games, this makes have a great merit.

There were plenty of ports for different non-MS-DOS systems, including MAC, Atari Jaguar, 3DO and SNES, in addition to having later remakes, notably improving their graphics and music but retaining their gameplay, now it can be a little ambitious game to play. but it is worthy to try it at least once, thanks to him many developers were inspired to realize their own projects, impelling of great way the evolution of the videogames, for my part I played it a lot in his moment, eliminating until the last of his enemies and I have He has been a faithful follower of his sequence of games giving a little touch to his last title called Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus of 2017.

Many of the games we played in those times had an explicit violence, our parents always disagreed with them, I had many problems because of that, but I never cared, it was an extreme addiction!

Played this game so much in grade school! I remember sneaking in a copy to keyboarding class and getting busted.
