Once again the difficulty at extreme and immortal levels will completely dominate the post, this time we will remember one of the Arcades machines that innovated in a very relevant way the controls and gameplay in yesteryear, in addition its extreme difficulty but great addiction towards what was one of the the most coveted games in the great arcade rooms, the great Smash T.V.
Seeing the Arcade machine gave you a feeling that you would face the worst boss in the world of video games, the simple fact of introducing the coin and playing it already assumed a totally shocking challenge, I will never forget that animator with his two great girls to the sides giving you a "terrible spirits" (what I did was to see those girls... mmmmm, do not judge me XD), spent countless coins trying to pass but always reached the last level and died in the attempt, could not continue because I spent all my money trying to pass, the best thing was to pass it between two people, but in the same way it was so difficult, with or without help it was an almost impossible task.
Smash T.V. It takes us to a Reality Show in which our mission was to survive a great horde of enemies which will do everything possible to eliminate us, apart from getting the best score through prizes that are found in each of their levels, it has good 2D graphics that for the year 1990 was well received by the gamer community, has a variety of enemies which are changing as we progress in their levels, although their designs are somewhat simple they look great on screen , our main character is well designed, he always reminded me of some of the members of the game "Super Contra" because they look a bit like each other.
The levels are very similar to each other, the difference that exists between them is the difficulty that is generated in them, as is to be expected the further we go it becomes very difficult to finish it, they are made up of different rooms where we have to eliminate absolutely all the enemies that appear (sometimes I would say that they are too many), the scenarios are quite colorful, it really implies that it is a TV show wild of total annihilation.
The gameplay for its time was very advanced, in this Arcade we did not have the typical buttons, here we simply had two Sticks which one controlled the movement of the character and the other the direction of the shot which was very fluid, this gave the bases for what what would be the future controls of the video consoles, is impressive the impact of ideas that can cause an Arcade of yesteryear to the present, we also had the possibility to play it cooperatively, giving a touch of competition to see who made the highest score in the match.
As I mentioned earlier Smash T.V. is considered one of the extremely difficult games in the Arcade world, this is due to the long time that it can take us to finish it (more than 1 hour, for an Arcade this is quite time) apart from the amount of enemies that appear on the screen. impressive, as we move forward they will vary their speed, resistance, movements, making every step we take a hellish battle.
In order to "survive" we have the help of weapons which give a great impact on the gameplay, to mention some we have a protective shield, a grenade launcher, launches missiles, among others, the bad thing is that its duration is too short which we must take maximum advantage to eliminate as many enemies as possible, one of the most annoying things is that, from a certain point, some mines will appear, if we accidentally step on them we will explode instantly, watching the pieces flying on the screen (it's one of my favorite animations).
The bosses that we will find in Smash T.V. they are considered the most difficult and rough among many videogames, their design seems to me something "bizarre" but entertaining, we can spend a lot of time trying to annihilate some of them if it is the first time we face each one, each one has its own attacks and defense, This means that we have to study their patterns very well, for this we will inevitably die many times in the attempt, besides resisting bullets as if it were an iron wall.
Smash T.V. it does not stand out in its music, the melodies in their great majority are almost equal by level, apart they can be a little generic, really neither we will pay attention to this aspect in all the game, but this recovers it in a glorious way its special sounds, really they make us feel that we are in a TV program, an animator, applause, an audience that is amazed that you are eliminated, the shots, the explosions, enemies destroyed, make the game totally attractive, fun and addictive at all times, if it really had a good soundtrack it would be something fabulous.
If it were not for these types of game I consider the world of video games nowadays it would be something different from what we know, Smash T.V. released thanks to its controls great alternatives in gameplay, apart from the fact that its difficulty places it on the throne of the top 10 of the most difficult Arcades games of all time (it would be good to make a post about it), without a doubt it represents a challenge in the world of video games complicated to achieve, however there were different ports for consoles that transferred the essence of the Arcade to our homes, although evidently lowering the extreme difficulty, for me one of the best ports that contributed all that the Arcade had was the version of Xbox Live for Xbox 360, allowed to play online cooperatively this excellent game, I thought it was excellent since the game deserved this great update to bring it to the online world, is a game that will simply give me the best memories of a At that time, your skill in video games had to be almost perfect.
