The fantastic Nes has something that can not go by unnoticed, is its great difficulty in the vast majority of games, many of the current generation wonder why this, simply in the past did not have as much memory capacity in their cartridges to program and the only way they could make the game quite durable was by placing those extreme difficulties, that's how we could spend weeks trying to play a game until we learned their patterns completely.

One of those games that I got my gray hair was Gradius, which I met for one of those cartridges 100 in 1 that sold the stores in the 90s (still continue to sell), at first by the name did not pay much attention and that as you can imagine in that cartridge came too many games, until one day I decided to try them one by one (total leisure XD) until I found this fabulous game.

Graphics and Gameplay

Gradius is an excellent shooter which we manage a ship in the space to which we can make certain upgrades to facilitate our adventure, despite this is considered a game with a good difficulty, with the simple fact that an enemy touch or crash against some object we will lose life instantly (as I hate that XD).

Its 8-bit graphics express the Nes' potential in a very good way, giving a very good color palette, the design of our enemies is not something amazing, but they fulfill the objection of bothering us all the way.

Let's talk about something very interesting, the ability to increase in a certain way the power of the ship, when we kill certain enemies will give us an item which will accumulate in the bar of the bottom, this has several levels which each one has its name, these belong to the abilities that we can put to the ship, among them is the "Speed up" that simply increases our speed of movement or the "Option" that gives us a helper in oval form that will repeat all our attacks , we will depend 100% of these upgrades since without them the game will be a total nightmare.

One of the things I love about this game is the speed it develops as you progress through it, being able to dodge attacks that you thought impossible, you become a ship of mass destruction that, if you use correctly the upgrades , you become totally unstoppable.

Music and sound

His musical section is not something in the character, however, his songs are still addictive, in each level will find a different melody, as we move it seemed to become more dark XD. For some, their special sounds can be rather bumpy as they do not vary much, but for shooter lovers they will actually be accustomed to hearing pure explosions and lasers everywhere, in general terms thanks to these elements it becomes addictive.

Final words

Gradius in my life of gamer represents a great mark in childhood, I train in an impeccable way in the world shooter can be said that it is school in this genre. Over the years continued to take sequels of excellent quality for many consoles keeping optimally what I tried to transmit its predecessor, yes, what did not change in them was that difficulty of yesteryear, is what I most want in many games that are emerging in this current generation.

Gradius was the first game to have the Konami Code. Up Up Down Down . . .

That's right, thanks to that we have that famous code, just legendary

Hey @gabox i'm a huge fan of Snes until now and i'm happy to see posts like these of youre these games are unbeatable!

This review will be featured in the latest Steemit Digest issue.

I'm glad you like the post! I am retrogaming lover since I grew up with these consoles!

Whenever I play Gradius, I always ask myself why there are Easter Island statues in space, let alone out to kill you. But then I give up and just say 'Japan'.

It is one of the many questions in the mysterious world of video games, I recommend "Parodius", a good and funny shooter

Oh my god, i miss this game. This is one of my favorite games!
