After a few days of being able to experience the great Cuphead I was able to finish it with its peculiar ending, it really seems like a masterful game that brings to the present all the characteristics of the games of yesteryear, I was really impressed by the great work of the MDHR studio, it is totally gratifying as an Indie company can give you a show both in gameplay and audiovisual. Its argument is very simple of which I will limit myself not to speak of him not to give spoilers on the matter, although it is not the big thing, but I consider an important aspect to enter in relation with the game, what it is important to highlight is that his style of play is a fusion between platform, action and shooter that makes it a very dynamic game and of excellent quality. Many catalog Cuphead as an impossible game to finish, however, I disagree about it, it is a game that is difficult, in that you have to be clear, but it is more than all trial and error, this is one of the characteristics that more makes the game great, the ability to increase your level in each boss is something very striking, I really consider it one of the best games of 2017 and is worthy of this little analysis through this post.

Cuphead gives us a trip to the past, revives in an impressive way the cartoons of the 30s, taking advantage of the Unity graphics engine to achieve that final result, if with this you think that the game will look somewhat old-fashioned let me tell you that it is not like that, offers pastel colors that gives life to each of the characters in the game, in addition to the movements of our protagonists and the enemies are quite fluid, I was really impressed to see so much quality in a 2D game.

What stands out most in the game are their bosses, the quality of drawing that each one of them has is impressive, it really seems at all times that we are seeing some chapter of a caricature, apart from the setting that exists in each one of its challenges is perfect, using different layers in the background, this visually gives different points of perspective, that is, sometimes we will see shadows or things near the screen and background animations, personally at every moment I was distracted by seeing all these things causing the death at every moment XD.

In addition, it offers us a mapping of very peculiar level selection of the games of yesteryear, such as Super Mario World but in a slightly more free way, until we pass certain levels will not allow us to advance in our adventure, the animations will be present in the map but in a slightly more minimized way, sometimes we will meet certain characters that we swim some advice to finish a certain phase.

There are three types of levels, the most common are the "Level Boss" which is simply the elimination of different bosses, which is not easy, absolutely all are different, their attacks and defenses vary depending on how close we are to eliminate it, this is where there is a very interesting detail, we do not have any vitality bar for the bosses, we will always be in total suspense of the precise moment that the bell rings (boxing type fight) and listen to the word "knockout", At that time we will feel like the gods of Olympus, but if we fail we give the consolation through a progress bar that was so close to completing the stage (this applies to all levels).

There are the levels "Run 'n Gun" in which the main mission in them is to be able to grab certain coins that allow us to make purchases in the store of the game, in these levels there may be subjefes and this is where our skill is put to the test, they are really demanding and make a clear reference to the platform games of yesteryear, sometimes we must be very attentive because there are coins that are hidden and as I said before are our only source of money to get objects.

And finally we have the less complicated levels that are "Defender" type that we simply have to protect a vessel from ghost attacks, the only way there is to eliminate them is by performing Parry, this is when we train in this movement, they really do not represent any degree of difficulty (if we compare it with the other levels), you can pass it to the first visit.

With the coins that we acquire in the levels "Run 'n Gun" we can buy certain objects that help us in our adventure, this gives the gameplay more life because our strategies and types of attack increase, sometimes because we do not have a type of shot is very complicated to be able to pass some boss, but this is about the trials and mistakes will learn, until we find the right movements and items to pass each level.

I can only think of one word to describe this aspect, Masterpiece, each of the songs that Cuphead contains from the presentation to the end are great, they offer us a touch of jazz and other 70s oriented melodies that are simply a pleasure listen to them in their entirety, one of the ones I like to listen most is the one that sounds in the background in the selection of worlds, simply an excellent piece, the quality of their sound is impressive, that we can notice in each one of their heads, it agrees perfectly with its animations giving an entertainment and fun without equal, simply do not get tired at any time for the great variety that exists in the game.

Since 2014 Cuphead filled me with many expectations, waiting more than 3 years to see the final result and I think it was worth it, it is a totally worthy game to be nominated for the best games of the year, its animations made by hand, its excellent music, playability make it a piece of excellent quality, apart as an old school video player reminded me of many games of the 8 and 16 bit era like Megaman, Parodius, among others, its difficulty makes it a challenge to finish it , if you think it's a game that you will not be able to enjoy because it's so difficult, you're wrong, from start to finish, it trains you to become an expert in the platforms and the shooter, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
