WipEout Omega Collection Looks Nice and Clean

Since almost 3 weeks WipEout Omega Collection is in the stores, the game is a package of 3 WipeOut games folded into one. It went like this, Sony decided to put WipeOut HD, WipeOut HD Fury and WipeOut 2048 together in a new game called WipEout Omega Collection.

More Than Likable

WipeOut has always been one of Playstation's most nostalgic titles out there. The Gamers back then were fascinated by the adrenaline rush it produced when playing, and not to mention the insane music tracks that accomodated the racing experience. The original WipeOut game was released for the first playstation, it struck a lightning bolt within the gaming community at the time ! Due to the popularity of the game, entire series and remakes have been added. Sadly enough WipeOut developer Psygnosis had to close its doors so no more WipeOut games have been released since then.

What's In The Box ?

Within the 3 games you have the option to drive/hover in 26 reversed circuits, the amount ships are set to 46. All the game modes from the previous editions such as career, time trial, single race, tournament and elimination are present. Career mode gives you the opportunity to play all the levels and game types, while in time trial its about finishing the laps in the least amount of time. Single race lets you pick a circuit and a ship just to race for fun. In elimination mode you have to survive the hazard of other ships firing at you with all kinds of weaponry, the last ship on the road wins. Zone is another less known game mode where the colors of the levels constantly change, the longer you race the faster the color fluctuation. This is very confusing and as a result you start to crash, but don't crash too much or you die. Most of the game modes can be played on your own or against a friend, online multiplayer tournament lets you play against 7 other competitors. In addition there is that typical drum ’n base and progressive house music that keeps you on the edge when you are racing.

So What's New ?

Not much really, the positive thing is that the game has been re-polished to today's standards. WipEout Omega Collection looks clean and fresh in 1080p, it even supports 4K The game has a few new ships here and there and the frames per second have been tuned up to 60. Playstation Pro owners have the luxury to enjoy HDR within this game.

Gameplay In the Futuristic World Of WipEout

Challengers are easy to keep up when you play in novice, after a couple of races the odds of winning decline rapidly. Every ship has its own characteristics and the airbreaks are not always as responsive as they should be. While racing a player can use a whole variety of weapons like bombs, machineguns, rockets and mines. Generally speaking the game is difficult to play so mastering the necessary skills may take some time.
