VIDEO GAME REVIEW // 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand
50 Cent: Blood On The Sand is a third person shooter video game developed by Swordfish Studios and published by THQ. It is the sequel to the game "50 Cent: Bulletproof" and was released on February 24, 2009. It can be played on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You play as 50 Cent, obviously, but you can choose a partner to go through each mission with you, choosing between members of G-Unit like Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks and DJ Whoo Kid, each specializing in different techniques.
You make your way through an urban war zone in a middle eastern country where 50 was hired to do a concert. After the concert, the promoter doesn't have the 10 million dollars he owes you, so instead gives you a diamond encrusted skull which is worth much more, apparently. After receiving this skull it gets stolen by a crazy terrorist group and you spend the whole game trying to get it back. This is basically just your regular old shoot 'em up video game. You're given a mission to carry out and you do as it says. Of course through out the game there are a number of collectibles that you can find that unlock music videos in the main menu and many other things like that. While the story in the game was pretty damn corny and unrealistic, that definitely doesn't take away how fun the game is.
I really enjoyed playing this game, it was fairly easy to figure out and when I decided to play it, I wasn't exactly looking to be super impressed I just wanted to play a game where I could shoot up every one in my way mission by mission. One thing I found pretty cool was that most of the time when you enter a mission where you have to beat the main boss, it usually ends up being a helicopter. As this helicopter rains down bullets all over you, you gotta figure out a way to take it down without dying, of course. I never got to play the first game to this small franchise, but after giving this one a try, I definitely wanna go back and play it. I give this one a 4/5. It's much more fun than it looks, without a doubt.
