Revolution X

This is an arcade style rail shoot game, similar in style to time crisis or house of the dead. In this game you help the band Aerosmith defeat the new world order by shooting a machine gun of sorts and hurling CDs at your enemies. Yes this is real life and yes this is really a game. I actually HAD this game as kid and played it all the way through with my neighbor. If I am not mistake it was also ported from arcade to sega saturn.. I am not 100% on that one ... My experiences lay in the Sega Genesis version of this game. Lets jump into this analysis.Check out some gameplay footage here:

The Good!

I want to start by saying the voice overs in this game are phenomenal. It was a Sega genesis title that was packed full of what sounds like actual voice samples from Aerosmith. I always found that to be pretty cool. The fact that the gimmick of this game is that "Music is your weapon against the new world order" Was always a pretty cool concept , because there might be some realism to that hahah.

The graphics of this game are pretty good. You will be shooting all sorts of enemies from men in hazzard suits to guys who are roller skating with machine guns. These kind of antics make the game somewhat comical. At one point in the game you end up in a strip club haha. It has you do THREE sweeps of the strip club before moving on to the boss. I always found that funny. The bosses are probably the best part of this game. They feel huge in size and definitely are fun to take down. You will be on building tops fighting a full attack helicopter or in the dessert of area 51 fighting off aliens and monsters.

The Bad!

On the Sega Genesis version there is no game over. SO therefore there is literally no challenge to the game beyond collecting score. This can bore a player pretty quickly. As I was entertained by just simple progression as a kid, now that I am an adult it can seem to drag and feel like I am wasting time. This is a somewhat good shooter game, dont get me wrong, but there is no challenge if thats what you are looking for.

The Ugly!

The final boss is silly. SPOILERS AHEAD: The boss of this game is like a pig in a wheelchair that shoots rockets XD WHAT! hahah... As I said before, the games ridiculousness is over the top. Killing him is satisfying and violent, so at least theres that.

OVERALL SCORE: 5/10 PLAY THIS IF YOUR BORED

This game is fun to play. It will entertain me for short spurts, especially if I am playing with a friend. IF you can create maybe a drinking game out of it. I dont really know. Its a bit poor hahah. The game gets very repetitive and seems to drag on. I wouldn't recommend playing this to get a good gaming fix. Play this game if you want some laughs while hanging with some friends. Its over the top ridiculousness that makes it fun. Not the best gaming experience. I hope you enjoyed this review. Please upvote if you enjoyed this.
