Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System was an open world adventure game that was actually pretty dang cool. I played this game as a kid and spent HOURS roaming the world of Jurassic park. The game essentially throws you into a top down view open world with guns, dinosaurs, bombs, and all the fun stuff we love in gaming. Once you enter a building, which there are several and they are huge, you go into first person mode with with an almost "Doom" feel. Check out this gameplay video below:

The Good.

This game is pretty ambitious. The open world is fun to explore and theres tons to see. You run into all kinds of dinosaurs and can spend hours roaming the halls of the different buildings you can explore in the world of Jurassic Park. The weapons all have different perks and downfalls and it can be an adrenaline rush to be face to face with a flesh eating beast screaming at you. The exploration is the best part of this game. Make sure you are the type who likes to roam in "dungeon crawlers" because even though you arent roaming dungeons per say, this can get a little crazy. The graphics are actually pretty amazing for a game of this time. The jump between top down view and first person really makes a dynamic game. Usually games based upon movies can be sketchy, but this one was rather impressive.

The Bad.

The only real bad thing I can say about this game is the frustration of running in circles. I would need a certain key card and I would run the labyrinth of amazement that was created on th this damn Super Nintendo game. This can be VERY frustrating...but the reward of mastery always pays well.

The Ugly.

Running into a gang of raptors ready to eat your ass. They have no mercy and you have to move quick. Theres no better way to raise the hairs on the back of your neck when you see not 1.... but 2 of these beast trying to jump you.

OVERALL SCORE: 7/10 Worth a try if you like a good dungeon crawler.

Theres tons of good action in this game... but all in all it comes down to exploration. You will be running through many of the places you see in the movie and interacting with items from the characters and likenesses you know and love. This game isnt perfect.. .but it also isnt bad. I definitely feel like it is a dungeon crawler with the skin of an action/adventure game.. You will spend hours running around those labyrinths. It can get tedious, but if you manage to beat the game.... it is well worth it.. Thanks for checking out todays episode! I hope you enjoyed! Please leave an upvote if you did! Stay awesome!

Sort:

While I did play this, I had the Megadrive/Genesis version, a 2D platformer where you could play as either Dr Alan Grant or a raptor.

I do remember that version. It was a platformer of sorts. That game was fun.

I liked it too! Nice memories, but I never saw the ending...

You should totally go back and play it. Might be a different experience for you now.

Maybe you are right. I remember that it was quiet frustrating to start from scratch when I had quit game. But with emulators that shouldn't be a problem anymore

Oh it is definitely still frustrating hahah. Your deinitely right about the emulators haha. I will play it on my tablet from time to time with an emulator that has save states. So no worries on restarting. but like I said before.... It is still pretty frustrating but a fun time.

Still a super legit game!

Great game! one of the first i ever played as a kid.

Same here! It is definitely solid!
