I believe iLink is the same as Firewire (that's just Sony's name for it). It was very popular for digital video back during the MiniDV era. There were two common speeds: 400mbps (which is what the s400 refers to) and 800mbps. Firewire was faster and more reliable than USB until USB 3 came along and could also be used for fast (for the time) networking.
Possibly it's the same cable, the truth is that this was designed by Apple, most likely at some point these companies made some kind of agreement. Thank you very much for your comment @darth-azrael
