GTA V Publisher Ratings Drop To "Overwhelmingly Negative" On Steam

in #gaming7 years ago (edited)

Grand Theft Auto V's publisher appears to have sent the lauded modding application "OpenIV"
a cease and desist letter.

The application allowed PC Gamers to add modifications to the game (and other Rockstar games), in the form of mods that might enable one to become The Hulk, or Spiderman, whilst also enabling the addition of new vehicles, and fun experiences to the single-player game. The mod had the ability to turn off all other mods added to it when online play was desired.

Rockstar is taking some SERIOUS heat for this, and not without warrant, as this is seen as an attack on the gaming community as a whole. Critics have taken to Steam to let their opinions be known.

Although I don't play GTA 5 anymore, this saddens me. I've seen many players' creations via mods; they are the lifeblood of the game's replayability (not unlike Skyrim), and this sounds like Rockstar is really shooting itself in the foot here.

WTF. Rockstar I always loved the Grand Theft Auto games and the modding community are what makes ur games so much more fun.

I always loved playing with modded cars on my 2nd playthrough of the single player. The game feels way more realistic with proper everyday cars you would see in real life, than those fake made up cars that rockstar have.
Need for Speed can have proper cars, why u being cheap with ur fake cars Rockstar??

Damm developers should rather just put a check on online servers to make sure people can't play online with modded files and leave the modding community alone.

They already do that check, and if you try to play with a modded game they just ban you.

This is without cause, except to sell us expansion packs.

On the Main Server? That's INSANE!

Yes agree

theyll never stop game modders....fine line between mods and hacks...ive always been fascinated by game exploits and always wondered about finding exploits in real life, like i always wondered if there was a way to hack a debit card to get infinite money but not using crimina activity byt by creating money, at the banking evel, in a way that noone couldd stop me, never thought my dream would come true bt the bitpay debit card and mining ethereum and bitcoin as made that dreamcome true!

modding and hacking reallife is important for mainttaining a free an truely open world! America and America alone (and a few oher nations like japan new zealand australia some european nations also allowfor the full freedom of humanity to flourish, money and business is key to material abundance which can be spread to every corner of the world through automation

Excellent post!
