Why Apple Should Buy Nintendo

September 7, 2016, was a historic day for the gaming industry. Apple CEO Tim Cook was on stage in a packed Bill Graham Civic Auditorium and presented the company's next phones - Iphone 7 and Iphone 7 Plus.

But the big "bomb" was not a new series of Iphone (we had nevertheless expected it). Instead, it was rather the company's special guest, Nintendo's demo-producer Shigeru Miyamoto, attracted the greatest interest. He was there to introduce a new mobile game, Super Mario Run, and the fact that the game would come to Apple's platform first.

As you know, Apple is sitting on a treasure chest enough to fund any high-end game. The company has huge resources to spend in order to enter different markets. Music they have already grabbed, and the movie world is something they're saying that they are looking a little extra at right now. However, to complete their portfolio of entertainment, games are missing. And this is where Nintendo comes into the picture. Apple should buy the Japanese game giant.

Creating A New Titan

As a company, Apple and Nintendo are very similar to each other. The two do not always focus on the latest technology. Instead, it is proven, fine-tuned technology that does something different, and their goal is to change in each area how we interact and use technology. Apple is working hard to attract players, not least with the new App Store where games have their own category, and Apple TV to attract indie developers. Nintendo, for its part, wants to get its slice off mobile players and are aiming to release mobile-adapted versions of beloved games on a regular basis.

With Nintendo under its umbrella, Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda could become mobile-exclusive for IOS and TV OS. Nintendo would lose the eternal stress of trying to attract third party developers to support the consoles to sell and the economy to merge. Also, like Beats, Nintendo would continue to manufacture its own hardware where Apple could stand for the software part and integrate the Nintendo Switch with its already tight ecosystem.

The only logical step is that Apple buys Nintendo. Separated, the two companies work in the same direction in many ways, but together they would be a giant many would throw jealous looks at.

I wish Nintendo and Apple become friendly rivals (not sure if they can be called that as they don't attract the same audience) who work together sometimes (Mario Run is great) rather than become the same company.

Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda could become mobile-exclusive for IOS and TV OS-

This part makes me shudder!! I don't want that at all!! (I know some people would like it to happen), while I like Exclusives I would never want them be exclusive for one type of mobile.

But still

Nintendo would lose the eternal stress of trying to attract third party developers to support the consoles to sell and the economy to merge.

That's one great thing that would make them support them if they decided to merge!!

I was trying to argue from the angle off what's best for the companies and not us gamers, but i see your point. I don't really know if it would be better if they merge, was just trying to make the case for what the reasons for doing so might be :)

Thanks for reading dude, peace!

At this movement, it seems impossible that these two giants in of IT industry will come to point of merging. But it will be great for the tech if they start working together. Thanks for your article.

I agree, it does look very... not possible right now. But they both would gain some immense value from such a deal, which in turn would make the overall game's better funded (thus making them better, hopefully) and other positive things. Thanks for reading bro, peace:)

Wonder if Disney will buy it, they seem to be making a lot of moves in the market

Well I think it will be great to hear that Apple will buy Nintendo , but this will not be possible , they are 2 big companies .... and Nintendo have a point of view . This is strictly my point of view . Congrats for the article anyway

I understand your point, and while they have some similarities they are also very different:)

Thanks for reading!

it is true that the are similar companies in terms of how they are innovatively different and unique. Just don't know what it will spell for nintendo if apple buys them.
