Agony - A Hellish Trip Into Madness [Game Preview]
Introduction
Before reading further you should know that this is an adult game with adult images, if you are sensitive you could be offended by this game.
One of the few successful kickstarter campaigns, the first-person horror survival game Agony is going to introduce players to one of the most terrifying visions of hell ever conceived in a game. With today's tech and the possibility to create insanely realistic graphics, the horror genre is getting truly horrifying.
The game is being developed by a small independent team called Madmind Studios. Madmind Studio is a game development studio created in 2016 by Tomasz Dutkiewicz, and the devs working on this game have worked on some really AAA grade gaming titles like Witcher 3 and The Division. I for one am excited to explore this disgusting world and face any horrors hell can throw at me, i hope you also have a strong stomach because i don't think you would want to miss this game and epic storyline.
Tip: Don't eat anything "meaty" while watching the trailer.
Story
Ready to go to hell? In Agony you take the role of a tormented soul who just arrived to a dark and sinister version of hell. You have no memories of who you where or are and must go on a horrific journey trough the depths of this foul place to understand who you are and why you are here.
Using special abilities, you will need to control lesser demons, creatures and souls on your path as a means of survival in the extreme conditions that Hell offer. You will need to interact with the other tormented souls that lie in pain, all this to piece together your fragmented memories.
After lurking trough the scorching, painful and just awful place that hell is, you will soon learn that there is only one way you can ever escape from this place.
A meeting with the mysterious and terrifying demon called The Red Goddess(dramatic music).
Game Mechanics
First-person survival horror game (+ super gory).
Control different characters (TBA) and explore 8 different story endings.
Solve puzzles as you find your way trough the twisted ether of hell. The setting introduces some quite gory and creative takes on puzzles.
As this is a survival game, much in the spirit of games like Amnesia, you will hide by crouching and holding your breath to hide from the aggressive demons that rule hell (don't hold your breath to long though as you will pass out).
Find collectables in the from of mysterious statues and weird paintings. Exactly what these collectables will do upon finding is yet unclear.
Explore & manipulate the minds of other tormented souls in hell and piece together who you are and how to escape step by step.
Use special powers to counter the dangers of hell. Not much information out there right now, but there has been seen signs of telekinetic type powers (like the force from Star Wars) and a degree of mind control upon less powerful entities.
Graphics & Atmosphere
I almost want to say that its unfortunate how good looking this game is, as its super gory and disgusting. But as always, Unreal Engine 4 delivers up and beyond in its visual appearance. The environments are disgusting in every corner, forget normal stairs and walls, in hell human flesh seems to be the construction material of choice for everything (and teeth, arms, legs, uhh..).
This game is dark. You need to be able to handle mature stuff when playing this game, you will see a lot of twisted shit going on in this game. Don't like dead babies or twisted body parts? You should probably buy another game.

Journey trough a original version of hell as you search for the truth of who you are. Meet other damned souls and puzzle together the pieces of your fragmented mind. There are going to be seven different endings in story mode, adding great replayability.

Manipulate demons and see the inner workings of their soul trough the special abilities you possess.

Love to play horror movies and torture yourself? Dead babies, twisted naked demon ladies and bloody puss filled constructions are just some of the psychopathic things you will see in this game.

As always Unreal Engine 4 delivers an impressing visual experience in Agony. You will be truly disgusted as you traverse this world.
