Counter Strike: Global Offensive, currently discounted at 33% taking the price from $14.99 to $10.04, is it worth it? We will discuss what the game features, how it is unique and will evolve in the future, the current player base and more.
The Counter Strike series is a competitive first-person shooter that has been on-going since late 2000 with the release of the Half Life mod Counter Strike, soon after the game got so much of a backing from the community Value issued a development team to create Counter Strike: Source. It was a major success, early in the days they were the first eSport tournaments held in the world.

Now fast forward to 2017 and we see Counter Strike: Global Offensive, with a very active community all round 24/7 you can expect to hop into matches almost instantly. The game currently has a peak of 692,966 players making it #2 on the Steam charts for Top Games under Value’s biggest MOAB Dota 2 (which is free by the way), the game consists mostly of an audience between young adolescents to middle aged men and women so everyone is welcome, but in saying that the community isn’t as friendly as we are here at SteemIT so expect some people to get angry and use very vulgar language.

So what makes CS:GO fun? The variety of game modes make CS:GO fun and very unique from other first-person shooters. If you get bored of shooting enemies in the head or get tired of being shot in the head then you can choose from a massive selection of game modes such as;

Deathmatch – A basic spawn in and kill game mode with no limit to deaths, highest score at the end of the match wins.
Arms Race – An exciting game mode where everyone starts on the same weapon rotation and as you get killed with said weapon you progress, easy as that. First to end the game on the knife kill wins.
Demolition – Demolition is basically the classic game mode of two bomb sites with an added twist, the arsenal is limited and players are rewarded for their efforts to eliminate the other team.
Casual – Casual is the Counter Strike: Source version of matchmaking, with faster and larger games it’s very fun but mainly players who are banned from matchmaking or are just beginning only join in this game mode.
Competitive – Competitive is what majority of the player base plays, the concept of having ranks makes this game mode enjoyable. This is the classic .de game mode where the Counter Terrorists protect two bomb sites against the Terrorists whose goal it is to plant the bomb, win the round by eliminating the enemy team or successfully demolishing the bomb site.

Not only are there official game modes by Value but also community made game modes such as Minigames, Jailbreak, Surfing and much more. Honestly this game has so much to offer.

What are my thoughts on Counter Strike: Global Offensive?

I have logged over 2000+ hours into this game, I have reached the top ranked tier and played with multiple communities and ESEA. I’ve enjoyed majority of my time here especially at the very beginning. What makes the beginning the best part is the learning curve, literally the learning curve is ridiculous if you have never played Counter Strike. But that's a concept in life, basically the longer you play the better you get, don't expect to be top fragging on your team in the very first week, these things take time.
