The NEW Analogic Videogames Generation
¿What it´s Analogic Videogame?
Well im refering to tabletop boardgames, that yes, are analogic gaming version of nowday videogames, since they share the ludic spirit that gets from 1 up to a dozen of players depending of the game, as videogames do.
In the 70s boardgame industry was more treated like toy industry, focused toward progression on the young public, with the most clasic boardgames as Monopoly, Risk, Clue, Scrabble, Chess going forward with games like Sorry!, UNO, etc.
As boardgame industry go on a slow path, the Videogames revolution came into with the progressive masification of computers, and the development of gaming consoles that makes an industry of his own, having a 80s of entablisment and a golden 90s with a follow better graphic era in the 2000 to 2010.
Well Videogame has it´s own tale of rising and stagnation on the focus of making better graphics of the same videogame over and over that many of us know, but what about boardgames universe?
Boardgames as many think get to his stagnation point on the 80s, but in the mid of the 90s a game rises SETTLER OF CATAN that set a revolution of new boardgames, comparative to Super Mario Bros, that grown in the early 80s and became a solid landmark among other games.
Around 2000 Boardgamegeek was born, a website (with a very old structure https://boardgamegeek.com ) that it´s the central place to know about thousand of boardgames that grow exponentially on releases each year on several genres and themes ; amerigames, eurogames, partygames, cooperative, etc.
Nowday we expect around 560+ new boardgames a year, along with Kickstarter, Indiegogo and other crowdfunding platforms that let born INDIE initiatives that several consolidate publisher companies don´t take risk on, and depends on the boardgamer public to come to the shelves or not.
Boardgame Industry it´s so solid that many expert tell that we are on a BOARDGAME GOLDEN AGE, with an actual situation where games get a good level of production in plastic and cardboard, games that have even TRAILERS like this...
with the look of this!
And yes! we do have hybrid games, since boardgame industry helped to inspire and give mechanic and theme to videogames, we do have Videogames that JUMP to become a boardgame....
and this!
And different from the jump of movies to the big screen on Movies; The jump to boardgame are great games by themselves with the spice of the theme, since they are made by gamer geeks; with good titles as DARK SOULS cooperative boardgame, Sid Meier Civilization boardgame with 2 editions, Doom and several other titles.
Modern Boardgames, as we know the tabletopgaming today, goes from several themes that goes from administrate a farm in Agricola (yes like Harvest Moon) to Crush empires on Twilight Imperium (Like master Orion) going from build a city on games like Suburbia to games about making princess dress on Rokoko; along with movie/books themes like Lord of the rings, star wars, etc.
WAR OF THE RING: a risk type boardgame about conquest or free the middle land.
RAMPAGE; inspired in the videogame... lets ruin the city and win by doing it better!
ARCHIPELAGO; settle an island and set a settlement, but be aware of the natives and their revolutions
ZOMBICIDE: will you survive a zombie apocalypse?
MARRAKECH: Are you good selling tapestry to an arabic?
PANDEMIC: play along with other medics to prevent a massive viral spread and human extinction
AT THE GATES OF LOYANG: are you good buying seeds and selling fruits?
SPURS: a sandbox cowboy game where you win by doing what you want; cattle, mining, stealing a bank or capturing outlaws.
As you might see Boardgaming has a complete world i invite you to try out, might be boring to read some rules, but it´s fun and a good excercise to play on your own, keeping the rules and the social interaction these games have, giving you lots of hour of playing and a alternative hobby with the risk that could become your main new hobby.
Boardgame as i said it´s on a golden age and we have to enjoy it, try them out before they get to stagnation temporal level, as the cycle goes on.

So cool! :) I also like card games like Magic the Gathering - and Netrunner, which I guess is somewhere between a board game and cards.
@elfypunk yes magic the gathering it´s a gap between cardgames and boardgames, also a bit of RPG! it usually it´s the starter point to analogic videogaming :D
Oh man trip down memory lane here. Do you remember that board game where there was a giant stone head that spit lava at the players? It would come out like a fireball and roll down the board.
What game was that? i had memories on something alike! even in my country many games didn´t arrived
