It is seven years since Sony released the latest Buzz game. Since then, quiz fans have had to entertain themselves with games like the Jackbox Party Packs to answer their trivia desires. Now Sony is back in the quiz genre and in this Knowledge Power review you can read whether this return is worth your pennies.

Knowledge is Power is one of the newest titles in Sony's PlayLink collection. This means that you play this quiz game with your phone instead of with a controller. As long as everyone downloads the free application, you can play Knowledge is Power with up to six candidates. Who of your friends knows the most useless trivia?

Quizzes via the PlayLink system

In the case of Knowledge, Power is the control with a smartphone incredibly easy. While everything is on the television screen, you can answer questions on your telephone in the most diverse categories. One moment you think about German celebrities and the other moment you break your head over classical music. The questions are usually not too difficult, so if you have any knowledge about a subject, you are already fine.

The PlayLink system works great for this party game. Just like the other games in the series, you can connect to the game by sitting on the same Wi-Fi as the PlayStation 4 or by making the console a hotspot . Knowledge is Power therefore has the same problem that you can only play the game together in a room. Streaming or inviting your friends via Skype is not there.

Fun for the whole family

When you start Knowledge is Power, you start by selecting one of the characters. This immediately sets the tone that you can expect a lot of frivolity because the characters are for example an astronaut, man in a hotdog costume or an alien. After choosing, you take a selfie and your face is pasted to the chosen character. An effective way to start the quiz show immediately.

The visual style helps to complete the funny picture. A lot of bright colors are used to make the game lively. All characters have too big heads and have funny reactions. Knowledge is Power is therefore an ideal game to play with the whole family, both young and old can enjoy a healthy dose of trivia.

Express your opponent

The game gets a bit more depth through the addition of Powerplays . These are special obstacles that every player must use for a question to make it difficult for an opponent. For example, there is mucus that covers the answers and has to be wiped away first or ice that needs to be chiseled through. Everyone has to hand out an obstacle, but you understand that if a person is far ahead he can expect many obstacles from his fellow players.

The disadvantage of these Powerplays is that all these obstacles are applied one by one with an accompanying animation. After you have seen the different obstacles once, it takes a long time to repeat the same images over and over again. Especially with six players, it may take a while before you can get to the next question, what the tempo gets out of the game.

A nice bonus to Knowledge is Power is that the application contains a demo version of the game. Without being near a PlayStation 4, you can compete against another person. This way you can introduce friends to some elements from the quiz game to persuade them to come over the entire experience.

For example, this demo does not include special rounds in which you answer pairs instead of asking questions. You will then, for example, see a number of sports terms and a number of sports with the task of connecting them.
