How To Easily Beat Entei In 'Pokémon GO,' The Strongest Legendary Beast
The Legendary Beasts are upon us in Pokémon GO, a bit earlier than anyone expected but nice to see around just the same. They're spawning in force after a slightly delayed launch, though you'll find Entei, Raikou and Suicune all in different spots around the globe. Raikou is currently here in the Americas, Suicune is available in Asia/Pacific, and Entei is available in Europe and Africa. At the end of the month they'll all rotate, and then do so once again at the end of October. We've already looked at Suicune and Raikou, and for this guide we're looking at Entei, a noble-looking straight Fire-type that should be easy to counter for anyone who built an effective team against Moltres when it rolled around. Here are some of the attackers that you'll want to lean on when it comes to taking down the highest CP Legendary Beast on offer:
Vaporeon: Vaporeon is going to be by far the most common attacker when it comes to Entei raids. Eeevelutions have long been overpowered for their rarity, and Vaporeon beats them all when it comes to base stats. Vaporeon is a hard hitter with decent survivability, and most players have been able to obtain and power up at least one. I'm rolling with three myself, and plenty of players might have full teams of six ready to go against any Fire-types they might run across. Can't go wrong with this one.
Suicune: This won't do much good for players in Europe and Africa fighting Entei first, but as time goes on Entei will be going up against players with a Suicune in their back pockets. Suicune is basically a less powerful version of Vaporeon, which is useful if a bit strange considering its Legendary status. But I can't really resist the urge to power up at least one of each Legendary type I come across, so I'll be rolling with my token Suicune once I come up against an Entei.
Golem: Ah, Golem. The one most reliable raid counter is still good against Entei, and chances are you've got at least one capable Golem if you did any raiding against the birds. A Rock move set won't get the double bonus it did against Moltres, but it still packs a punch against a straight Fire-type. Expect this to be the second most common counter after Vaporeon.
Tyranitar: Another generally reliable counter that's still good against Entei, especially if you've got one outfitted with Stone Edge. Tyranitar resists Entei's attacks and does solid damage even without Super Effective moves due to its high stats all around. Tyranitar is currently a good bet against every Raid boss save Suicune.
Dragonite: No, you don't get any damage bonuses. But you don't get any weaknesses either! Dragonite shines as a generalist attacker, made more versatile due to its relatively high stats and penchant for appearing in 10 km eggs. Throw a Dragonite in in a pinch.
Other attackers: Omastar, Kabutops, Seadra, Gyarados, Feraligatr and basically any other combinations of Rock, Water and Ground will serve you well here. Entei shouldn't be too hard, overall, mostly due to the proliferation of Vaporeon.
