Straw Hat Pikachu in Pokémon GO and One Piece crossover event

In Pokémon GO there is currently a crossover event with One Piece as both Pokémon GO and One Piece both celebrate anniversaries in July. It's also an effort to draw people to the Kumamoto Prefecture area in Japan. The creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, was born there. The area was devastated by an earthquake in 2016. Statues of Luffy and other One Piece characters in the area now featured as new Pokéstops.

With this event Pikachu can be found in the wild wearing a straw hat like the one that Luffy from One Piece wears. Which is also a perfect hat to keep the burning sun at bay during these sunny summer months. On top of the Pikachu wearing this straw hat, there is also a version available in the Style Shop for our avatar to wear so they too can be stylishly protected against the sun!

I have yet to encounter a Shiny Pikachu wearing any type of hat, so we'll see if I can get one this time. These Pikachu with straw hats are spawning globally throughout July 29 at 1 pm local time.

This Pikachu is a bit different from the other Pikachu with hats from events though. As it's not possible to evolve it into Raichu, whereas the other Pikachu, even Detective Pikachu, can be evolved into Raichu and keep the hat. Which must mean that there is also no Pichu available with a straw hat.
