By reading the Title of this Post or the thumbnail don't think that I am saying Twitch got Banned but something did get banned and it's not Twitch. It's actually a bunch of Twitch Streamers who got several DMCA Takedowns in a matter of hours and even some streamers straight up lost their Channels.

So the Question Arises what is actually happening?

The answer is pretty simple, several hundreds of Streamers on Twitch got DMCA Takedowns due to use of Copyrighted Music in their Clips. We all know that Twitch Streamers like to play Music in their Background so as to give an Immersive Experience but it seems to have now backfired on them.

Usually I would have backed the person on the receiving end of the DMCA Takedown but in this case we all know that it was definitely justified to takedown the clips with Copyrighted Music playing in the Background. But there is also a slight catch here.

So What's the Catch?

Twitch Streamers have always played Copyrighted Music in their Background as long as I can remember but there was never such a situation in the past.
So what is the reason behind the sudden DMCA Takedowns?

I believe that Twitch has now grown big enough for other Agencies to go ahead and issue their DMCA Takedowns so that they can make some Buck for themselves as well.

For example if someone is makiing say 100 USD per Month using Copyrighted Songs in their Streams or Videos he/she is less likely to get a DMCA Takedown as it won't be worth much to the person issuing the Takedon.
But if someone makes 10000 USD per month using the samne things then there is definitely a huge chance for them to get Taken Down.

What I mean to say or express is that this feels like an opportunity for the Agencies to cash in some Bucks as Twitch has grown quite big and Big Streamers have some Deep Pockets as well.
