Star Citizen is an upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, where players will be able to explore an expanding universe filled with distant star systems, planets, moons and space stations.

What is Star Citizen?

Players will have access to a multitude of spaceships, from light-weight-one-seater fighters to capital ships that require an entire crew to operate, ship components, weapons, equipment and clothing. The planets and moons are said to be artistically crafted with procedural technology. All that and the ability to play as an explorer, pirate, cargo hauler, bounty hunter, miner, etc.

Currently in alpha and being developed by 4 studios, Star Citizen is 100% crowd funded and has raised more than $150 million dollars so far. The game has been in development since 2012 and has been delayed several times. But that doesn't seem to discourage fans from buying Game Packages to help with development and test the on going version of the game.. Theres also a single-player campaign being developed which is optional when you purchase the game.

Star Citizen: 2016 GamesCom Alpha 3.0 Demo

Coming at the end of July or at the beginning of August, The release of Alpha 3.0, the biggest Star Citizen update so far, has been updated and is set to happen between the 21st and 25th of August — yet another delay. For the first time players will be able to enter planets atmospheres and land their ships and all sorts of other improvements.
