[First Impression] The Dream Machine
The Dream Machine is one of the good, graphically unique and fun adventure game experience.
This post is part of my "First Impression" series:
I'm playing & posting about the games from my backlog. Here I write about them and think whether I'd try finishing them or not. Though many of them are from Indiegala.
The Dream Machine
A point & click adventure game made with clay and cardboard. The graphics make this a unique game in the adventure games genre and the puzzles I encountered in this game are interesting, hard and solvable.
Trapped in an island out of no-where.
The story follows Victor Neff who moved to an apartment with his wife. Victor discovers a note left by the former tenant that warns them about something strange in the apartment. Victor soon gets tangled up with the mystery of that apartment and its owner Mr. Morton.
Good Writing & Characters
In my first impression play-through, I liked the writing of this game. Every character has their own speaking style... Some of them speak with metaphors and idioms, giving them a unique vibe. The choices the game give you are various but whatever your characterization of Victor by your choices, the game seems consistent and makes sense.

Puzzles & Adventures
The puzzles of The Dream Machine aren't very hard but sometimes you could miss the hints of solving them, it's a bit time consuming when you have to backtrack to find one item you needed or some hint in God-only-knows which character said it.
So this isn't one of the games that you had to click on everything every time to see what solution the developer's brain had thought of.
Final Thoughts
I should mention that the game features some adult themes and jokes that I don't think it's supposed to be played by children/teenagers.
The Time Machine is very indie & experimental at the heart and it's very much consistently updated, with the last update being a month ago.
Overall I consider this game a hidden gem and highly recommend it if you like adventure games, the graphic and animation is good too and might be a reason for playing this game. Or at least that's my first impression about it.

Very clamation those models are, but certainly reminds me of the point and click genre. Heck if I had time I probably love it like I did with Sam and Max, who knows. Upvot’d and resteem’d.
