By definition, the most interesting part about Destiny 2 comes when from the beginning of game. The " endgame " are all those activities, collectibles, challenges ... that continue to give life to the game after the main story.

The game is an impressive step forward in narrative, variety of levels and memorable moments (in particular the last three levels are to take off the hat). But that is only the tip of the iceberg because the same treatment is transferred to all activities.

Distributed by the four planets of the game (the European Dead Zone, Titan, Nessus and IO ) the most varied objectives await us. Public events (which become heroic when we fulfill a secondary objective), patrols, adventures, lost sectors. meditations ... the truth is that we have the feeling that these missions will never be exhausted.

The development takes advantage of the great "house brand" shootings and is supported by exploration sequences, platforms and small puzzles. And what it gets is that you never get tired of patrolling the area ending with hordes of Fallen, Hive, Vex and Cabal . In general, it's about perfecting what the first Destiny promised.

One of the aspects that are most appreciated in this sequel is how it has improved our way of traveling the planets. Now the hummingbird (the flying motorcycle of the guardians) is not available from the first moment of the game, so we are obliged to walk on large extensions. This makes the feeling of "sandbox" is much greater: we enjoy simply looking for hidden chests, or giving their deserved to the patrols of enemies who disembark from their war cruisers.

Each of the maps has teleports , which allow us to save time - if we hurry to any sector - and we can even go to the general plane and choose landing points, to focus much more on the objective. The missions of the guardians open little by little, so that we do not get lost among so many possibilities, and the curve of difficulty is well adjusted.

It will not be difficult for us to reach the maximum level (20 for now) and from then on to obtain objects that increase our light up to level 200. From then on, things become more difficult -and starting at level 250 of light it becomes truly complicated- . But at no time is it frustrating. The truth is that it is much more balanced than in the first game, and have been assimilated all those improvements brought by the expansion of the king of the possessed , as infuse weapons and armor pieces. In a week, it is easy to reach the level necessary for the incursion.

The progression of the guardian is a fair balance between getting legendary and exotic objects, infusing them and applying modifiers, which can be cumbersome for newbies, but you learn quickly. And for now (we have about 60 hours of play) he encourages us to keep moving forward until, as Destiny promises, we become a legend.

What to Expect

As said before, the assaults of Destiny 2 are a big step forward. In the first place because the development changes constantly (as with the drill in the inverted Spiral, which many played in the beta) and because we are the hardest enemies - and big ones. But for that we have the help of the other two guardians of our squad (who are selected automatically, through matchmaking).

When we have dominated, we can access the assaults of Ocaso , with weekly activities much harder, but that leave us the best feelings of the game: collaborate with unknown guards in battles without quarter, to get an exclusive booty.

This same philosophy is what has moved to the adventures. We can play one after another, and get some continuity in the story (which completes the main plot), and also enjoy very different sections, not just repel wave after wave of enemies.

The online pvp mode of Destiny 2 may seem like the "ugly duckling" of the game. It is not connected to the main theme, and all modes have been "cut" to 4 vs 4 matches . But the catalog of weapons - now divided into kinetic, energetic and destructive - is exceptional. Lovers of cartridge shotguns (in the category of most powerful weapons) have lost an important advantage, but the game is still very balanced.

The rewards offered by this mode and the variety of maps (none of them use vehicles, for now, and there are no hummingbird races) encourage us to enter the Crucible , but we have not had the same level of frenetic fun as with other FPS. as Call of Duty, Doom or Battlefield.

For now, you may miss the presence of a closed stage to play by waves as the Presidio of the elderly , which will surely come later, with some of the promised DLC.

First of all, it should be noted that the main improvement is the ease of accessing this game mode. It is no longer necessary to find a squad of 6 friends with sufficient level to face Leviathan (which is how it has been baptized), but the clan system allows us to join a group already created to enter the mission, which has a level of recommended light of 270.
For now the guidance system is in beta, but later it can become the best way for novice players to dare with a feat of these proportions.From there, and as in the first game, we will enjoy a careful succession of battles against hordes of enemies, areas of difficult access and puzzles, which require the collaboration of the six guardians to advance. The incursion of Destiny 2 is something unique (and difficult).

In the orbit of Nessus we will discover a great scenario, which is unlike any other environment of the game and will test the most skilled players. The Cabal (with resplendent armor, inspired by ancient Egypt) guard a succession of rooms full of traps, in which teamwork is essential to move forward. But the reward, and the epic moments that await us, is worth it.

Destiny 2 rises on the foundations of the first game and improves all its aspects. It is a much more solid game, which "opens up" from an excellent campaign, and that offers endless hours of action. It has a unique focus on the field of MMOs , which fits perfectly with the consoles - traditionally this is a more popular genre on PC - but still has some details to polish.

With regard to the technical section, the control is sensational, the soundtrack -coral and instrumental- impeccable, and everything related to the design, to the interface, we love it. The scenarios are huge and rich in detail, and the enemies behave intelligently. The game looks 4K on PS4 PRO (and will also on Xbox One X when it hits the market) but we miss the possibility of playing 60 FPS as on PC, where it almost "looks like another game".

It is also fair to mention that, although people might have not experienced any failure, the maker has acknowledged that the game crashes in some moments, and has bugs that are trying to repair, and that spoil our experience.

We would be impressed by the evolution of Destiny 2 , but we still expect more. The use of the ships is testimonial (to decorate the cargo screens) and pets have not been implemented either, as they were seen in the first conceptual arts of Destiny . In addition, the social aspect (aside from laughing with other guardians) is not fully developed, and visits to the Villa and the Traveler are nothing more than a process to get equipment.

Destiny 2 is a perfect evolution of Bungie's MMO FPS. A huge game in which we will spend hours trying to become a legend, and collaborating with other guardians around the world. The campaign is great, and the endgame would get us hooked.
