KINGDOM AND LORDS ANDROID GAME REVIEW
Ok, let's do a game review today, it's one of my favorite games and its been a long time I attempted this.
The Kingdoms and Lords is a real-time strategy and management game in which a player will have to transform his small rural village into the realm of war to be able to tackle the terrible threat presented Lord Tamay's return.
So, Kingdoms and Lords combine the traditional playfulness of social games with a very refreshing approach to the classic strategy.
You will quickly build buildings so that your farmers can live, and you can build soldiers, just like the leading armies in the fight against the enemies of the kingdom.
As in all good games and kingdoms and lords, you will need to improve your buildings and units, unlock new and advanced missions, and in short, progress little by little to become the leader of your village needs.
The kingdoms and masters are strategy and management of games with simple playing and a very attractive visual part.
Furthermore, controls are perfectly adapted for touch-enabled devices so you can perform all your actions with just one finger.
Kingdoms & Lords pretty much follows this course.
It seems like a deep, involved strategy game, but below that, it's a cynical, hollow, free experience.
In the world of Kingdoms & Lord, nothing is as it seems. Look at those screenshots and you can expect empire builders in Settlers.
Or, if your eyes fall on those battles, you can be fooled to think it's some kind of RPG turn-based. Not one.
Of course, he builds his city from something, builds shacks and houses, libraries, and even roads. And yes, these essential parts are based on patterns.
But there is no depth or soul at all. Every action and game mechanic is rooted in a well-known payment model that will inevitably require you to drop out several times to get a full experience, and offering very little to rewarding gaming.
He just built a barracks and started training soldiers so you could participate in an accidental clash? This soldier will take five minutes to appear - unless you pay to remove the waiting.
Of course, you could build better barracks that speed up the soldiers faster - but that would cost you jewels, not rich coins that can easily be earned by completing tasks.
Well, we say 'satisfying' tasks. In fact, you can shorten the whole process - pay by skipping them completely.
Kingdoms & Lords focused on your payment model, not for gambling, are also visible when you look at technical performance.
This is a relatively ugly, basic appearance of an isometric game, like mid-90's computer titles. However, it's stuttered and stalled more on my third-generation ipad.
It is time for the hornets to rise
Of course, there is nothing inherently wrong about having the ability to pay for skipping pieces of the game.
But the worrying thing is that pleasure does not affect your decision-making process either. I never even thought I would help neighboring villages as it would be fun. Why would I think that when all this involves touching several icons?
Well, I thought I would do it because I was down to my last jewels and I really do not want to pay anymore.
When used properly, there is nothing wrong with the freemium model. But when games such as Kingdoms & Lords are a cynical fun game for the benefit of abandoned drop in loopholes and awards - well, it seems we want to get some mediaeval.
Thanks for your time, drop your comment if you have played the game. You can also download and enjoy it.
Thank you.
