Double Dribble on NES
Sports games were not great on the NES. To be fair they were far worse on previous systems and we can't really get to upset with them about this. All sports games on the Atari 2600, for example, were just horrendous.
Double Dribble on the NES was actually a pretty kick-ass game and i have fond memories of it.

Double Dribble was a 2-player game if you wanted it to be and I would recommend that you do exactly that because the A.I. was just annoying in the fact that they simply try to not lose possession rather than try to score. It was actually kind of fun to trap them at half court because they would pass in such predictable fashions that it would become like "light-speed" passing back and forth endlessly until the shot clock ran out.

Look at those amazing graphics huh? Well, it was the best we had to deal with in 1987. The game featured actual voices at certain points and was a suprisingly realistic game considering the time-period. However, it wasn't uncommon for your black center to become a white dude, mid play (I promise i am not making this up.)

Every now and then you would slam dunk and almost certainly this was an accident. The game would slow-mo to a cutscene where it was clearly not you but it was a guy dunking... and that was good enough for us back in the day.
Double Dribble is said to have a "glitch" that allows 3 pointers to always go in if shooting from the top corner and this was only revealed to me when I saw an episode of Family Guy.

I have no idea if this is true or not, but based on what i know about the rest of the game it wouldn't surprise me.
Double Dribble, by the standards of 2019 (or many many years prior) looks stupid. At the time of release it was pretty much the only even somewhat realistic basketball game that any of us had ever played and therefore it holds a special place in my memories.

Somehow that "glitch" seems to be in NBA Jam as well as NBA Hangtime. You can get a 3 almost every time in the corner.
it must be some sort of copycat thing going on and i think that's great that they did that. haha
Double Dribble is a fantastic game. I used to get excited because they somehow digitized some speech in the game. It wasn't great, but it was there and it was impressive to us at the time for sure. I had many a game with friends on this. I can't say for certain but didn't this game randomly sometimes change the race of the player you were controlling? LOL, maybe i dreamt that. who knows.
i don't know about that glitch but the corner 3! is a real thing.
