Zelda Breath of the Wild Running in 4K on Emulator is Jaw Dropping

in #games7 years ago

Nintendo just launched the Switch and with it, for the first time, a Zelda title was a launch release. In the past, it was thought that action role playing games like Zelda would not sell systems. Zelda: Breath of the Wild proves that theory wrong on many levels. What is interesting here is, to play this new Zelda adventure you don’t have to buy the Nintendo Switch as the game is available on the previous Nintendo console, the Nintendo Wii U. Now, fans have gotten Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on an emulator.

Using the CEMU emulator, fans have been slowly making progress in getting Zelda: Breath of the Wild running at a faster frame rate. CEMU, for those that do not know, is a Nintendo Wii U emulator. Considering the Nintendo Wii U and Switch are quite similar in hardware, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is nearly identical across the two platforms.

That is until you run it through CEMU and crank it up to 4K resolution.

Woah, this is cool. I had no idea that people were working on Wii U emulation. Insane!

It is pretty amazing. The frame rate is not quite there yet and there are bugs but it shows that progress is being made.
