My Arcade Adds Bandai Namco Games to Product Line, Coleco Shows New Units

in #games6 years ago (edited)

My Arcade are pushing forward with their line of licensed Table-Top Mini Arcade units and portable hand-held units. The latest company to ink a deal with them is Bandai Namco. You know what that means, right?

Yep, Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug are all getting new table-top mini arcade units and hand-held units from My Arcade. Kicking off this new line of games will be Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug with more Bandai Namco titles to come later. This is interesting because the Table-Top Mini Arcades will feature full color screens that are backlit, backlit coin traps, and removable joysticks so players can use just the directional pad if they choose.

Did I mention that the Table-Top Mini Arcades will feature artwork that the cabinet design and outer graphics will be based on the original full-size units? Yeah, they are going to be making these things nostalgia through and through. I just hope they are not based on the Nintendo Entertainment System versions like their Pixel Player or the Go Retro Portable by Retro-Bit.

“We are honored to work with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment to bring such iconic titles to a new generation of gamers,” remarked Crystal Dugan, My Arcade’s Marketing Manager. “PAC-MAN, Dig Dug, and Galaga are nostalgic titles for myself and everyone who grew up playing them at their local arcade. They are such an important part of gaming history and we are thrilled to bring these back in a unique way to a whole new audience.”

The titles to come later are not yet named but I am interested in seeing what my friends here on Steemit think should be the next set to hit?

Retail on these “Micro Player Arcades” and hand-held units will retail starting at $35 and will be available Spring 2018.

Coleco's Return to Mini Arcades

Another company is bringing back their version of the mini arcade, Coleco who have a brand-new Rainbow Brite game and have licensed a Robotech title for the other mini arcade they have planned. It seems these little units are getting more popular – let’s hope this is not just a fad.

Next set: Rolling Thunder 1 and 2 or Mr. Driller

Do you think it would be prudent to release Rolling Thunder 1 and 2 in one wave together? I figure Ms. Pac-Man will be in the next wave myself - the others in that wave, not too sure about.
