Flasback Coming to Sega Dreamcast
This is rather interesting news. Flashback, the 1992 video game that saw release on Sega Genesis and PC, is getting a new lease on life. This time on the Sega Dreamcast console. Delphine Software, the holders of the Flashback IP, have licensed it out for development and release by an indie developer. This is not a fan hack like other ports of Flashback. This is an official release.
JoshProd, a French game publisher, is handling Flashback on the Sega Dreamcast. This is not just a simple port of the PC or Sega Genesis version either. Flashback for the Sega Dreamcast is being developed from the ground up. That is right, this is a completely developed for the Sega Dreamcast port of Flashback. Delphine Software have provided the original source code for the new developers to work off.
What fans can expect with this port is the full uncut introduction (which Sega Genesis gamers missed out on a lot of), full support for the Visual Memory Unit (VMU) with a “save anywhere” option (a life saver for some of the harder areas), and fully remapped controls for the Sega Dreamcast controller. Also, there are new menu’s, visual options, etc being implemented in this version of Flashback.

Ah, a fellow Arkansan. Have a 100% upvote, my friend. That is awesome that there are more of us on here (more than I ever thought). You should check out @Papa-Pepper, he is in Arkansas also and posts some really cool stuff.
Back on topic though, yeah, the Dreamcast was VERY underrated. I think Sega knew this was their swan song and designed the system the way they did to give a gift to gamers after they were gone (just some figured it out before they were ready to leave).
I still have my Dreamcast I haven't played it in a while though.
Get that bad boy out and enjoy it! I am working on some articles about GD-ROM replacements (often the #1 reason people stop gaming on the DC). Oh, and there are plenty of games coming out for it, or have been released too.

Mostly zombie games like House of the Dead 2, Zombie Revenge, and then a few indie releases. I am also a fan of the Capcom fighters on the system.

You are very welcome. I am interested in picking this up myself. I was not all that big on the Genesis version but liked the PC version for some reason.
