The First Mind Controlled VR Game is Here

 Neurable and estudiofuture just announced the world’s first virtual reality game, Awakening, that gets rid of controllers and shows users what it’s like to have telekinetic abilities. 

 Neurable CEO Ramses Alcaide explained the games head strap is attached to an HTC Vive headset, that will use several electrodes to detect brain signals called “event-related potentials” that are tied to movements and thoughts in real time. 

 “A lot of people come in highly skeptical, because BCI has been a disappointment so many times before,” Alcaide said. “But as soon as they grab an object, there’s a smile that comes over their faces. You can see the satisfaction that it really works.” 

 The game is set to be released sometime in 2018 and is being showcased at the computer graphics conference SIGGRAPH next week.
