Mantic Games Forge Father Stormhammer Tank
I took photos of this kit before leaving on my trip, but neglected to post them! As a Kickstarter backer for the Warpath overhaul release, I received this model in the mail just as it was announced for sale.
I haven't fully assembled it because I want to magnetize it and be able to choose between at least a couple of the different options in the kit. There are three turrets for the two tank variants, a dozer blade assembly for one tank version and a different top/rear/side panel set for the APC variant. The parts fit together well, and minimal cleanup is needed for the panels. It's not quite as intricate as a Games Workshop kit, but Mantic is the best way to get a Space Dwarf army, and it's a nice game model.
The plastic seems to the the same as is used for the Battlezones terrain kits. If you want to build a nice modular terrain kit, it's the way to go, by the way!
In this case, the parts were already separated from the sprue, and the smallest were sealed in a smaller bag. Since this was not in retail packaging for my model, I do not know whether this will be the case for everyone or not. I opened the bags and spread out the parts to see what I was working with.
Assembly is self-explanatory if you have an image of the end result on hand and any experience whatsoever in building models. Add a little super glue and it will stay together just fine. The turrets could easily have a magnet glued in place during assembly, and I plan to add some scrap tin under the roof panel so I don't have to worry about magnet polarity.
The roof and panel kit for the APC variant may not be easily made as a separate assembly to swap out, but it could have any number of alternate uses instead!
So if you miss the Squats, or are fed up with 8th Edition Warhammer 40,000, or just want alternate models for your army, I strongly suggest taking a look at Mantic Games!
Cool! Just got recently into Warhammer, so im soaking up every bit of information i can get :)
