Racing Simulator "Rfactor"

Welcome Readers who love games, especially the race sports genre. Today I bring you this publication of one of the best career simulators, Rfactor. Lately, I have shared with you various articles in which I give you my opinion about these racing games, since I am a fan of motor sport (Motoring), until I become a Simracing (I participated in Online Leagues), that is why that whenever I write about games, they are usually of this genre.

Rfactor is a career simulator developed by the company Image Space Incorporated, which has created many games of this type since the beginning of the 90s. As I mentioned in my last post, the graphic engine This Video Game is based on the F1 Challenge 99-02 game created by EA Sports. Because this game has some freedoms in terms of its license, it has allowed communities to modify or update the mod circuits, in addition to the creation of fictitious designs and cars. Currently there is another improved version, which has the name Rfactor2, but I will write to it at the next opportunity.

Within the aspects of the game we find, the gameplay, the driving, the physics, Circuits, cars, mods, Hud, among others.

• Gameplay

The Rfactor has the options to play in window or full mode. In the main menu and like many games and depending on the Mod, but mostly, there is the option to try the track on a test day. You can also play in the Single (Single Player), Multiplayer mode and if we want to recreate with an update of the game we have the option of a Full Championship.

Like other games of this genre, the test mode is only one player on the track, being able to configure the climatic conditions, the rules, the car and the pilot, while in the single mode the same is done but with the presence of AI (Pilots of Artificial Intelligence) on the track. In the multiplayer, you can create a game or join it so you can play games with other people and communities.

• Driving

Driving in Rfactor as it is a simulator, it is very difficult almost like real life, but also and due to the difficulty for many players there is the possibility of activating some options like traction control, braking aids, control in pit lane, stability, etc. But the disadvantage of this is that it is slower on the track. The advantage is that the pilot has the opportunity to control his configuration of the car with the temperatures and wear of the tires, Fuel Consumption.

• Physical

The physics of Rfactor are very good, since in them they use an advanced model of physical model of wheels, known as Pacejka, which is not more than a model of simulation of wheels based on temperature and composition this.

• Cars

Rfactor has two types of cars used for their mod, the first is Open Wheel Challenge (Cars with uncovered wheels) that in this case are used for single-category types such as F1, Indycar, GP2, GP3 , Among others. The second one is sedans that are mainly cars of sports car categories. The most important mod of this last type of cars is Nascar.

• Circuits

The game originally comes with a series of circuits such as Orchard Lake (oval and permanent circuit), Mills Park and Toban Raceway (permanent circuits), Joesville Runabout (short oval), Sardian Heights (street circuit), Essington Park, Lienz (mountain circuit and rally track) Jacksonville (superevalo banked). But nevertheless, each mod of the simulator brings its tracks updated depending on the year.

• Mods

Rfactor brings with it a series of mods as is the case of one of single-seaters and other sports cars, but as I said before and by the freedom of license by the creators of the game, there are a number of unofficial mods such as several years of F1 until 2019, NASCAR, IndyCar, V8 Supercars, Road Tourism, GTR, GT Legends, TOCA Race Driver, Grand Prix 4 and Grand Prix Legends.

Advantages of Rfactor:

• The game requires a minimum requirement of the computer system for its operation, which makes it a very affordable option.
• It has a wide variety of vehicles and circuits available.
• It is compatible with all types of computer hardware required for the operation of the game, even the oldest.
• It allows the use of own designs in the helmets and the body of the vehicles (Like the design that I have presented in my publications of other games).
• Recent updates implement a physical engine similar to rFactor2.

Disadvantage of Rfactor:

• Although the modifications of the original product use improved models and textures, the visual quality is not up to the rest.
• It does not have the simulation of meteorology changes originally in the game, however, there are some rain plugins.
• The requirements of control of the parameters of the simulation may not be recommended for beginners.
• As it is one of the first online systems, games over the Internet require very powerful servers and even so the behavior of vehicles is sometimes not optimized.
• Due to being a simulator this game requires a greater computer knowledge for its installation and configuration on the PC.
• Being one of the oldest and most used systems is also the most vulnerable to cheaters.
• The new update prevents the creation of private games via IP.
