Mobile gaming : Marvel Strike Force

in #games8 years ago

Phew, long time no post, almost 2 weeks to be precise. Long story short, life got very hectic between work, family and some other stuffs. And when I'm not dealing with those I'd be

a) catching up with some TV series and

b) playing this....

Marvel Strike Force (MSF) is a turn based RPG game released in March 2018 for mobile platforms. Like it's namesake suggests, it is based on the Marvel universe, where you can recruit and control a huge roster of superheroes as well as supervillians from the Marvel comics and cinematic universe.

The overarching storyline presented in the game is that a supervillain called Ultimus has found a way to invade and conquer many parallel universe, bending the superheroes and supervillains alike in those subjugated universes to his will. The backstory serves not just the narrative backbone of the campaign mode, but also as an explanation why the same heroes and villains appears in both sides on the battleground - because they came from an alternate parallel universe that has been conquered by Ultimus.

There are several game modes that you can play, including the aforementioned  campaign mode, challenges, events, blitz, arena, alliance raids and the upcoming alliance wars. Some of those modes can only be unlocked once you have reached a certain level, but the gists of it is the same - pit your team of characters against another team of enemies and win to receive rewards that come in the form of in-game currencies, unlockable characters, lootboxes and items.

Without going into detail what each game mode entails, suffice to say there is enough variety to keep even the casual player coming back for more. The occasional special events such as the currently running Deadpool campaign helps freshen things up even more.

I was never a huge online RPG fan, as I found the social aspect of it tedious. This game allows you to play alone if you want to, even though you can fight against other player's team in arena and blitz mode, you do not have to interact with the players themselves. The only time you MIGHT need to do so is when you join an alliance raid.

The graphics are of very decent quality for a mobile game, and some top notch animation and effects to accompany it. The character designs are a blend of their comic source material and the cinematic universe. Heck, the character dialogues in the campaign mode are actually well written with plenty of wit.

If you are a online RPG fan, this is a great game to add to your collection. But if you're not, this is a fine mobile game in it's own right, with enough pull for either hardcore or casual players.

Is it a free game? If so, are there many in-game purchases that you have to make in order to advance in the game?

Yep it's free. in-game purchases are available but not necessary to advance, just makes it easier.

This looks like a fun game but I try and steer clear of starting new games that I can get addicted to haha. Otherwise, I end up being stuck playing the game instead of doing other things. I'll just enjoy the game through you from what you've posted instead :D

you know you want it :D

What an interesting game. Same as you I'm also busy with other things and my tv series and last time with games. I got addicted to mobile legends for a bit, got over it though. lol ^^
