Restarting Vagabond SpiritsteemCreated with Sketch.

Day 9 of 100 Days of SteemIt is all about gaming.

It just so happens that I registered the account @vagabondspirit to create a map based game.

The game uses a fitness tracker and a Open Street Map to create a fantasy game. The basic idea is that your Vagabond Spirit has grown tired of everyday life and decides to off on its own.

For every step you take in the real world, your vagabond spirit takes a step in the vagabond world. Okay, your vagabond spirit is a hobo who has hobo style adventures.

Players need to tell me the town where they reside. I will then create a map for your Vagabond Spirit. For each step you take in the real world, your Vagabond Spirit will take a step in the Vagabond World. It is basically tracking how far you would travel if you hit the road at your given pace.

There are no fun graphics with the game ... just maps.

So, lets say your Vagabond Spirit started in Omaha. Well, it might walk to Kansas City. Everything is up to date in Kansas City ... you-know.

Anyway, your Vagabond Spirit will create a map that you can follow on Open Street Map.

I want to create maps the follow the major trails of the world. Your Vagabond Spirit might take a walk along the Appalachian Trail. I will create international maps as well. The first version will be in English, but I will add multi-lingual support.

I started the game on SteemIt.

I had a Fitbit tracker at the time and the stupid thing broke.

My experience with SteemIt showed that I wouldn't make enough money to buy a new Fitbit. A Fitbits costs about a hundred dollars. At two cents a post, it would take several years to buy a new Fitbit.

I bought a new tracker in March with the intention of relaunching the game. I logged into SteemIt just before the hardfork drama began.

Anyway, I still hope to relaunch the game.

If anyone wants to play, I need to know the town where you want to start and the direction you want to travel. Leave a comment below.

The current version has a dependency on SteemConnect. So, I have to change the log in.

If someone wants to play; let me know in the comments. Simply tell me your starting place and the direction you want to travel. Such as I am in Oslo and want to go to Paris.

The picture shows my fancy new fitness tracker.

Interesting game idea.

Have you decided yet if you are going to develop it on Steem or on Hive?

Thank you

The Steemit Team

Thank you very much for the comment.

I developed the current version of the game for Fitbit.

I added a module for user authentication through SteemConnect. I had no plans to directly use the STEEM blockchain as I felt that game information would be perceived as white noise on SteemIt.

I did plan on accepting STEEM as a payment mechanism.

My plan was to fund the game with advertising. Quite frankly, I am willing to accept payment for advertising through any payment system. I advertised Paypal and STEEM as the primary mechanisms. I accepted BITCOIN and Etherium through BlockTrades. Those addresses are no longer valid.

I will probably use my Coinbase account for BITCOIN and Etherium as it is already set up and I don't anticipate selling a massive amount of advertising.

That is why I put off the product relaunch until the hard fork settled down.

Quite frankly, I think that games have to sit on the fence on political issues and let the users determine which payment mechanism to use.

PS: The current version is in PHP 7.0 . I want to upgrade to 7.3 before implementing the new SteemLogin.

The hard fork put me into a temporary holding pattern. If someone wants to play the game, I will launch it for them manually.

Thank you for the extra information about your game.
