My Recap And Review of (The Last Of The Starks) Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4

in #gameofthrones5 years ago (edited)

This was the episode after the battle of winterfell , It had very good scenes and some bad ones.
It opens with a scene of all the dead and it is a very sad scene made even more emotional with Jon Snow's Amazing speech. After that comes the feast, which i think was a bit too drawn out but it still had a few good moments, like the hound and Sansa's reunion and gendry becoming a Baratheon and a lord. I think Sansa is becoming one of the, if not the most intelligent person in Westeros and i really liked her character development.

Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage were just outstanding this episode, the emotion was great and the acting was on point.

Varys is becoming an interesting character again (FINALLY) and he is playing the game of thrones, and honestly i think he is doing the right thing by betraying Danaerys, who is becoming her father's daughter, the Mad Queen. I don't blame her for becoming that seeing that she lost 2 dragons and 2 loyal advisers/friends and it seems like she doesn't even get any credit like we saw in the feast, that would drive me mad as well.

Now to the things that were done poorly, first of all the ghost/Jon scene, what was that all about? suddenly out of the blue he tells Tormund to take his loyal direwolf, which in his mind he will never see again, and he doesn't even pet him or go near him, all we get was a little stare contest and he rides off to kings landing, even Gilly got a better goodbye than the dire wolf who was at his side protecting him for many years.

Rhaegals death was also a (What???!!) moment, not because i did not want him to die, i see how they did that to make it more even between her and Cersei, but because it just happened to shock the audience, and that scene made 0 logical sense. How did she not see the Iron Fleet? and how did they hit 3 spears in a row on far flying dragon, but they missed 20 on the dragon that was flying right towards them? Also, how did Missandei get captured? and why were she the only one to get captured?

The last scene was exciting and made me want the war to start already, but it still had mistakes, like Danny, her dragon and her soldiers were standing uncomfortably close to the ballistas on the wall, and while i loved Tyrion's speech, why didn't she kill her brother who she wanted dead since childhood?

Overall, I still enjoyed the episode very much but some things really bothered me and i hope there are no illogical things happening in the next 2 Episodes.
