Game of Thrones: Daenerys Targaryen with her Dragons as Dogs

I just finished another piece in my series "Game of Bones" where in dogs inhabit that famous fantasy world brought to life by HBO. Today we have Daenerys Targaryen with her two remaining "Dragons". When choosing the breeds for this first version, I had to do a Golden Retriever and, of course, what better breed for a dragon then the vicious Chihuahua?

I have done a few now and realized that the very first one was of Daenerys, but she was simply on the throne of Bones. I had done her as a golden then as well, but had not really decided how I was going to move forward with the layout.

I have also featured Chihuahuas before in this series. Having a chihuahua myself, I know they are a ferocious beast in a tiny package.

I usually start my pieces with a rough pencil sketch and then begin erasing lines and inking to get the final layout. Here you can see that stage just beginning to tighten up.

After I have the lines in a way I really like, then I beging the layering of color.

I like to build up the color on a few layers and then I go back in and tighten up lines or add a bolder line here and there so it pops and reads better on items.

And although it does stand alone as a piece of artwork,

I create it to be on things such as Tshirts and Hoodies.

I also love to give it a repeat pattern and add a coordinating color to play with it on other items as well.

I really like them on the blank journals because it makes me smile thinking it might actually be a fan novel about the GOT world put into a dog's frame of mine.

Over all it has been a rather popular series and I most likely will continue using various dog breeds to recreate the amazing characters in Game of Thrones.

So, I'll raise a cup to you and hope your day is filled with dogs and well loved Fantasy characters.
