RE: Steemdya updates: building editors

Thanks again for the reply.

I do not believe it would be profitable for curation bots as 1/2 of the vote would go to author and 1/2 to the all curators (for large votes), with preference towards the early curators making it very difficult to profit. There would be return but not "profit", thus no vote selling. This eliminates the delegations to bot, as the delegators would no longer be paid any more than they could make directly, curating themselves (auto or not)

It is indeed a diverse platform!

Thanks for the kind words on the method the bot uses. I am not looking to make this a flag war but simply invite a deeper awareness. Glad to hear you are finding this to bee true.

Blessings!

wouldn't whales still be the early curators and everybody follows? (profit)
i can see it would discourage delegation. personally i've always preferred to use a curation bot instead. they are already more profitable imo.

but i see your point. it's definitely a way to decrease promotion by bidbots.

Yes, they would want to be early voters, but since at best they can only get 50% (not 75% author rewards), it would be very difficult to setup vote selling where there is a sustainable positive ROI. Eventually all voting bots would be out of business, and perhaps replaced by curation bots. This I hope, would cause them to look for better quality, since they will make the same and not being paid by the author.

But not likely to happen, many in control do not want change and will ride the platform to the bottom.

Thanks for the constructive feedback!

thanks for your feedback too.
yes it's gonna eliminate the current form of bidbots. now you're incentivizing curation trails. it's only a matter of time before someone with a large trail starts selling promotion services. instead of delegation, they can show the size of the trail and how much voting power is involved (so buyers know exactly what they're paying for). we're back to the same issue. you're giving an advantage to someone who's willing to pay a top curator. whales don't have to look for quality posts. since you've eliminated the bidbots (or any other similar services), you can be pretty sure that curation trails will give you consistent results. the return estimates might not be as accurate as bidbots but they'll be reasonable enough for them to sit back and sell.

i hope you don't mind me with these questions but it's because i'm interested in this issue. if you have a platform that eliminates paid promotions (essentially advertising) and highlight only the original quality posts, it's gonna be the coolest platform ever. i'd love to see it.

Very interesting on the curation trails. I wonder if this occurred prior to the last HF. That would give some nice insight. I do not have that information, but perhaps someone later will update us on this.

Your questions and answers have been great, very much appreciated.

Have a great day (or evening).

just in case you haven't seen it @ned posted a screenshot of a new consensus model that will reward individuality and good behavior (steemit inc community guidelines?).
it has superlinear curation rewards. it looks like we might keep the current system and have an additional pool that rewards a different type of behavior.
i like the idea of adding a new pool to encourage being a 'good person'. except the verification for individuality and good behavior is centralized by steemit inc.. it's a double edged sword. if you decentralize the oracles people can start a bidding war to buy good behavior.

Very interesting concept. I need to look into it more, but on first glance it does look like a model that has the potential to highlight quality.

I'm sure many will find the direct Steemit.com implementation to be less than democratic, yet it is perhaps no different than a collective group of Steemians creating a large voting pool that they use to curate based on their own set of standards.

Again, very exciting, but I need to review more. I have resteemed, thanks for alerting me.

no problem. but again. i still see a way for paid promotion. all they have to do is use outside sources. possibly even other blockchains to ensure trust. now you have 'good person tokens' that somebody bought with ethereum or eos and it'd be harder to track. it'd be easier to fool people because the tokens themselves are made by steemit inc. i just wish they'd go with 'wisdom of the crowd' instead of 'wisdom of steemit inc'..
