Gamedev: integrating the STEEM blockchain for monetization and utility
You don't need a fully decentralized game or even Smart Media Tokens to use the blockchain. Check out this list of ideas.
I've come up with this list to ease development or monetize your content. None of these require the player to share any of their access keys. Let's hope someone puts it to good use:
Monetizing delegations
Fixed small delegation: Players are granted benefits over time while their delegation is active. I.e. 10 SP. Example: this could be the only way to gain ingame money if the game only targets steemit users, acting as a membership fee to keep an account active. Or it could grant VIP status / small buffs until undelegated.
Fixed medium delegation: for each 7 days delegating 100 SP, an exclusive cosmetic item, guaranteed tournament entry or a chance to get highly saught items without breaking game balance.
Fixed large delegation: the more and the longer a player delegates, the heavier their influence over development he could havet. I.e. example, deciding what new features to add within reason, what should be focused on first while the game is still a work in progress.
Variable delegation: great for pay to win, like colectible card games, offered as an alternative to the player who could delegate instead of paying directly, getting credit proportional to their delegation. Having more choices matters when you want customers to spend to support you.
Tiered delegation: various single and group player benefits. Ingame titles. Can easily stack with whatever else you offer, which is a great incentive.
Data management utility
Most of these could work either through posts or 0.001+ SBD transfers your game can pull up from STEEM.

The most I am probably going to be doing will be base integration with Unreal 4 and steemit where you have to have a steemit account to log into the game . Sending SBD for the correct amount to my wallet with the proper syntax should make it so the game will be unlocked with your steemit account.
If I get that working then I will branch out to doing things like save game data ect. Most of this will be done by sending yourself 0.001 sbd with a text message

Sounds like a great start. If you ever decide to comment / post when you receive this kind of information, don't forget you have to queue outputs because of the 5 min wait time between posts.
The game wont be using posts. it will most likely be using the message system. Send yourself or someone else 0.0001 sbd and you can have a text message included in that. That will likely be the main way to make this works.
