Hello Guys, I'm Arky and here I am today posting this to educate some Steemians about a game that I play so much for the past years. The game is named Pokemon Trading Card Game, it is a card game that is based on the hit video game Pokemon.

I had been streaming for days now and no one watches my streams. I have two hypothesis of what is going on, first is that I don't have visibility, second is that I don't deserve to be watched. XD

Just for the sake of my prospect viewers, I will try to explain with the best I can some of the basic rules of Pokemon trading card game. By the way, playing the game online is free, just download the installer on the link below this paragraph and register for an account on their website.

The things that you will be needing and needing to know

To play PTCGO, you will be needing a deck of 60 cards and an opponent that also have a deck of 60 cards. If you are playing with the traditional cardboard game, having an opponent and buying the cards would be a hassle but worry not because there is already an online version of the game and finding an opponent there is easy. There is a considerate amount of players in the online version so being able to appreciate the game is really easy with the online version.

I will not be tackling on really detailed parts of the rules because learning the game is really learned by playing it.

How to win?

There are three ways on how to win in PTCG: first is to be able to knock out six opponent pokemon, 2nd is if your opponent isn't able to draw a card from his deck at the start of his turn and finally if you knock out an opponent's pokemon and your opponent has no bench to replace his active pokemon.

So basically this is how your table would look like before the game starts. The part where I drew a yellow circle is the active pokemon area, this is the area where you place your active pokemon. The active pokemon is the pokemon that fights for you.

The part with the pink circle is the bench, pokemons that are on the bench are the pokemons that replace your active pokemon once they get knocked out, you can place up to five pokemon on your bench.

The part with the yellow green circle are the prizes, everytime you knock out a pokemon you take a card from those six cards(you take cards from your prizes not your opponent's, you don't take your opponent's card), once you got all six of your prizes, then you win the game.

There are three types of cards in PTCG: the pokemon cards, these cards are the very cards that fight for you.

The energy cards are cards that you attach on the pokemon card so you are able to attack.


And the trainer cards which will do some effects like draw cards, look for pokemon cards on your deck, heal pokemon, etc.

Each player shuffles their respective decks and draws seven cards. Before the game starts, each player puts a basic pokemon card on the active area face down. If a player has no basic pokemon on his starting hand then that player is on what we call a mulligan. That player on a mulligan shows his hand to his opponent and shuffles his hand(the seven drawed cards) and draws seven again, if on the next draw there aren't any basic pokemon again, then that player repeats the process of showing his hand, reshufling and drawing seven until a basic pokemon appears in his hand.

With all that said, the indept rules of the game can be learned through the online version or just by looking for it over Google. The rules aren't as complicated as Magic the Gathering and I bet anyone can learn it easily.

Why Pokemon?

Pokemon Trading Card game online shows how well commited the Pokemon company is into reaching people with their games in anyway they can. The marketing of the cards in paper and online is really impressive compared to the other names like Magic the Gathering.

There are other names that are also good in marketing like Yugioh(because of the anime) but I feel like Pokemon does it the best because of the digital codes that gives you freebies in the online version whenever you purchase booster packs or fat packs of the card board version. It just shows the Pokemon company's commitment into both the cardboard version and the online version, to be precise here, whenever the card board version releases an expansion in English right away the digital version is updated adding more cards in the data base, making the game up to date that gives it that competetive atmosphere even on the online version.
