RE: Game Development | Getting In the Basics
Coming along nicely. Looks like you are following the RPG tutorial from Virtus Learning Hub on Youtube? I notice a lot of things from it. ;)
I was applying it to my own stuff, which is only the mannequin but it would be cool just using that stuff he uses and having proper characters.
But in March when I get my Oculus Rift S, I will be going into VR game development instead so I am not as fussed with getting far in my normal game at the moment.
Keep it up mate!
Yep, I followed a couple of his tutorial videos. They were quite helped when I got stuck and gave me some ideas on how to go about things moving forward. Some things like using bone sockets in the skeleton to attach items to are going be great to know about. Other things like item drops and the inventory system I’m hopefully going to be able to redo using data tables and some other more advanced techniques once I get a better grasp of things.
I was hoping the Epic Games Unreal Engine learning website would have been a bit quicker and easier to search for specific things. I finished there getting started course last week and am working on the Blueprint one which should hopefully help me out a lot.
There are plenty of tutorials out there as well as helpful videos etc for anything you need. I am still only newish in some aspects, but being a quick learner I quickly get things down. Always feels great when you start applying things and seeing it come together, like animating your assets through Unreal Engine.
