OFF: An RPGMaker Game With An Odd Story (No Spoilers, Just The Basics)

OFF is made by a French creator that goes by MortisGhost (Tumblr DeviantArt Twitter Redbubble). He also makes a comic called Dr Cataclysm. Something I love a lot about MortisGhost is his art style. (Note: All art used is by MortisGhost himself. Also link to download the game will be at bottom.)

OFF is a very hard to describe game and so I’ll go with the simplest of explanations first. In OFF the player control a baseball player whose goal sounds very odd: Purifying the world. Explaining anything more about this game’s plot would destroy your experience playing said game. This game is also a lot like Undertale and many of it's first fans came from OFF.

In the game the player meet many characters such as:

Batter:
Batter is the silent protagonist with a desire to purify the world no matter what gets in his way.

Judge:
The Judge is a well spoken cat.

Zacharie:
Zacharie is the traditional Item’s Merchant.

And many many Elsen:
Elsen are extremely timid and very common. They are considered to be the normal people just trying to get by.

It's best not to do any of the other characters because I feel it ruins the experience.

The player also visit many different parts of the world such as The Nothingness, Zone 0, Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3 and a few others. All the Zones are separated into different colors Zone 0 being Yellow, Zone1 being Lime Green as well as Dark Blue, Zone 2 being Pink as well as Dark Blue and Zone 3 being Orange as well as Dark Green. Each Zone has it’s own Guardian with different personalities and issues.

There are also fan games called “SpinOFFs” Each having their own way of telling their own story while staying in the loose realm of OFF or sometimes just using the characters and building a new story around them! It’s a very creative crowd for a fanbase and I’ve enjoyed a few of their games.
