Xiang Qi - Chess that nowhere to find but here!

in #game7 years ago (edited)

Of course Aceh is not China, so only in Peunayoung you'll find this game. :D
I am so lucky had grown up in this small Chinese town. Having Chinese neighborhood is a unique social living experience that could never found in any other place in Banda Aceh. You will find house-less building but shops as the living place. Today is an exciting day in the neighborhood as The Chinese community, HAKKA Foundation held a chess competition; Xiang Qi board game.

Xiang Qi is an old chess game from China. It is played by two persons with a square board and 24 chess pieces.

The referee is shuffling the chess pieces to start the game.

They set upside down before the player open and take the step.

Although this is a different chess that is mostly played, but one thing that I always found; serious faces. Playing chess requires accuracy in determining steps to avoid dead step.

The referee is writing down the winner of the match.

Scheme to win the game.

People are enthusiast in watching the game.

These are Xiang Qi pieces. I actually do not really understand with chess or this Chinese chess.
