Fortnite - Twitch channel promotion backfired
No, I am not writing about my twitch channel. If you are into gaming and if you like Fortnite (like me),
There is this absolute underrated twitch channel hosted by Crafty, a young, friendly, non toxic gamer
I decided to sponsor him and his new esports team Frequency with my firm.
I was looking into ways to promote his channel and I found multiple ads on fiverr.com
Problem number 1
Because of the low price I ordered multiple services simultaneously.
Now I was not able to determine who actually delivered new followers - and who didn't.
150 new followers came over night, sounds great, right? Well it wasn't. It was
Problem number 2
All those new followers were fake accounts, created at the same time, all without banners, and all followed the exact same streamers - probably the other guys who have ordered their services.
So this backfired, because it is not good for a streamer to have fake followers. It does more harm to the streamer's reputation than it does good. And I did not want that.
The problem kind of resolved itself, as Twitch un-registered one fake account after the other and the amount of false followers begun to reduce.
What I was hoping for were real people, that would support the channel and interact with the gamer. But I learned that you won't find such advertisement on fiverr.
I will keep looking for ways to support and to promote. If you have ideas please share them with me.
